Beatrix sat at the lake staring into the water. She can hear Bentley laughing in the water with Maine. She can hear Benjamin and Russell playing twenty questions. She can hear Bast trying to practice more with her lotus spear. She can hear Bartholomew and Python joking around with each other. The only person she can't hear is Bj.
She looked to the side only to see Sam and Bj sitting underneath the tree. They aren't talking but playing with each other's hands. Beatrix couldn't help but feel wrong. They all have their soulmates while Beatrix doesn't. Violet turns out to be working for Anika. Not to mention the girl she loves with all her heart, Camilla, doesn't want anything to do with her.
Beatrix looked down at her shoes. She heard something sitting next to her. Her dark pink eyes looked over to see Anubis. His white cornrows are pulled back in a ponytail. Anubis wrapped his black cloak his body.
"I'm sorry," Anubis whispered.
"For what?" Beatrix asked, nervous.
"That girl . . . I'm sorry. It seems that you really like her."
Beatrix snorted, "I'm not sure if I even knew her. I would love to blame her for ruining my relationship with Camilla but I can't. That stupid soulmate thing had to be her. Why did Violet have to be my soulmate and not Camilla?"
"The world is strange."
Beatrix sighed as she looked at him. Anubis is staring out forward straight at the trees. Beatrix watched his hands twitch nervously. Finally, after some time Beatrix laid on her back. Anubis stared down at her.
"Who is Camilla?" Anubis asked.
"She was my best friend," Beatrix replied, sad.
"Was? Is she dead?"
"No! I did something horrible."
Anubis raised his eyebrow, "What do you mean?"
"Well, Camilla and I were dating before we came to this camp. It was great! Trust me it really was but I saw Violet. Then it was like my heart and brain were at war. Fighting over what is right and what is wrong. Yet, I still did wrong, you know? I lost the person I fell in love with over something that I can't control."
"Then this Camilla would understand. Right?"
"It's not that simple, Anubis. It's actually really bad."
"And how come?" Anubis asked, thoroughly confused about the whole thing.
"I almost cheated on her!"
"Almost? That's not cheating them."
Beatrix sighed, "Yes it is. The reason why it's cheating is that I thought about it. I actually wanted to kiss Violet. I wanted to see how life would be with her instead of Camilla."
"But I thought you love Camilla?"
"I do."
"Then why would you think that about someone else?"
"I don't know."
Anubis put his hand on her shoulder. He didn't say anything because he doesn't know what to say. Beatrix looked at him with a small smile. She is happy that he didn't say anything. Beatrix is beating herself up twenty-four seven. She just rather have silence.
Even if it's for a brief moment.
Bartholomew is sitting at the picnic table with Python. He is laughing at whatever Python is saying. All he knows is, Python is trying to keep voice down when he is fussing out the Time Triplets. Bartholomew's eyes glance towards the lake and looked at Bentley.
For the first time in months, Bentley is happy. Bartholomew somehow forgot what Bentley looks happy. He forgot what Bentley's smile looks like. He forgot what Bentley's laugh sounds like. He just forgot that Bentley could be happy.
He forced himself to look away and back to Python. Python is sitting there staring down at his hands. Bartholomew grabbed his boyfriend's hands. Python glanced up to look at the blonde.
"It's my fault," Python said, suddenly.
"What? What's your fault?" Bartholomew asked, confused.
"Violet," Python muttered. "It's my fault. Because of me she is working for Anika."
"You didn't. Why do you think that?"
Python frowned, "Violet . . . I knew her. My first ever mission that Sedusa assigned to me was to sink Atlantis."
"Wait. Are you saying Violet is over a thousand years old?"
"I guess so? But now thinking about it. I sunk her city by calling on the largest water snake at the time. I watch her city sink. I listened to the cries of the people. I just stayed in my place. I just stayed back as I watched millions of people die right in front of my eyes.
"Ethan tried to keep me sane afterward but it didn't work. Then I found myself going back in time before I sunk the city. I wanted to save many people as I could. Ethan found out and tried to stop me. We fought and fought until . . . until Ethan told me that he could call me his brother again. He could never call me brother again all because I have morals!" Python exclaimed.
"Nothing is wrong with that, Python. And no one is ever going to blame you. You saved Violet."
"And yet I sunk her city."
"Well," Bartholomew frowned, "That's Violet's fault. She chose to become evil. She chose to work for Anika. Instead, of creating a life that you saved for her."
Python looked at his blonde. Bartholomew smiled at him.
"I promise not to bring this up to anyone. No matter what." Bartholomew said.
"Why?" Python asked, confused.
"'Cause I love you, you dolt."
Python smiled, "And I love you, my Bartholomew."
