Trouble

Kaito's POV

Things have been weird the past few days. I went over to see Li because we made plans, but he told me something came up and he had to cancel. It was a bit sudden, but I guess I understood. Although I couldn't help but feel a little upset. Mainly because ever since I left the Southern Water Tribe I haven't made many friends, and but many I mean any.

Then the following day I went over to see if Li was free, but instead I was greeted by Mushi. And he told me that Li had fallen ill. I offered to help if he needed any, but Mushi told me not to worry and that he had everything under control. But that whole day, all I did was worry.

Now today I decided to head over to the Jasmine Dragon like I always did. I'm hoping to see Li and make sure he's ok. But as I was approaching the Jasmine Dragon I thought I heard someone call my name.

"Kaito!"

That time I knew someone called me. I turned around and that's when I see Katara running towards me with a scroll in her hand and some sort of animal on her shoulder.

"It's really you." She said stopping as she approached me.

"I can't believe you're here." I said in complete shock. Then I changed my attention to the animal on her shoulder. "Who's this?"

"This is Momo, he's a winged lemur." She told me.

Just then the winged lemur jumped off her shoulder and onto mine. He went around sniffing my head before resting on my shoulder.

"I think he likes you." Katara giggled.

"He's cute." I told her. "But what are you doing here? I thought you and Sokka went off with the Avatar?"

"We did, that's why we're here." She told me. "We have a plan to stop the Fire Lord and we wanted to talk to the Earth King and get his help. What are you doing here? Last I saw you, you were back home."

"I decided to leave after...my mother died." I said staring down at the ground.

"I'm so sorry." She tells me as she wraps her arms around me, causing Momo to jump back onto her shoulder. Then she pulls away. "Momo and I were about to grab some tea before heading back to see the king. Do you want to join us?"

"Yeah, I was actually heading there anyway." I told her.

We walk into the Jasmine Dragon, which was filled with people. We ask for a table. Then I notice that Li's working. Which must means he's feeling better.

"Uncle, I need two jasmine." He called to his uncle. "One green and one lychee."

"By the way, there's someone I..."

I stop midsentence as I see the look on Katara's face. It was a mix of shock and fear.

"We have to go." She tells me.

"What?" I asked.

"Come on."

Before I knew it she grabbed my arm and pulled me out of the Jasmine Dragon and we were running down the street. I don't know what Katara was running from, but I know she wouldn't be running from nothing.

"What are we running from?" I asked as we continued to run.

"There was someone in there. Someone bad." She tells me as she was running. "We have to warn the Earth King."

I figured there wasn't really a point in asking any more questions. So we just kept running towards the Earth King's palace.

Eventually we arrived at the Earth King's palace. We ran down a long hallway and at the end of it we saw the Earth King's empty throne and what looked like three Kyoshi Warriors kneeling in front of it.

"Thank goodness you are here, Suki." Katara said out of breath. "Something terrible is going on. The Fire Nation has infiltrated the city. I just saw Prince Zuko and his Uncle. We have to tell the Earth King right away!"

"Oh, don't worry." The Kyoshi Warrior in the middle said as she stood up and walked towards us. "I'll be sure to let him know."

I don't know why, but there was something about the tone of her voice that sounded almost...sinister. It wasn't until Momo squeaked and leaps away that I realized something was wrong.

"Katara...what's going on?" I asked sounding kinda nervous.

"Something bad." Katara said with a dumbstruck look on her face.

As soon as Katara said that one of the Kyoshi Warriors flips in the air and touches Katara's shoulder. Right as that moment Katara collapses to the ground with water pouring out of her pouch.

I bended the water that was on the ground and tried to hit the Kyoshi Warrior that took down Katara. But as soon as I did she did a flip dodging my attack and started jabbing me with fingers. And just like that, I fell to the ground unable to move.

"So, Zuzu's in the city too." The head Kyoshi Warrior said. "I think it's time for a family reunion."

I couldn't get up. I couldn't even move at all. I could only stare across at Katara, who was also paralyzed. I had no idea how she was able to do that to us. Or what was going on. All I knew was that Katara and I were in serious trouble.
