Kaito's POV

It was a late night in Ba Sing Se. I was alone his apartment with all the shades down and the door locked, just like I did every night. This was the time where I would practice my waterbending. So I started bending the water that was in the bucket and moved it around.

Knock! Knock!

A startling shriek escaped my mouth as I dropped the water I was bending. I wasn't expecting a visitor, especially this late. So I quickly bended the water I dropped and put it back in the bucket before answering the door.

"Um...hello?" I said seeing a short old man.

"Good evening, I'm Mushi." The old man told me. "I was wondering if I could borrow your spark rocks."

"Yeah." I told him before I go over and grabs my spark rocks and hand them to the old man. "Here."

"Thank you." The old man said bowing.

"I don't think I've seen you here before." I noticed. "Are you new?"

"Yes, my nephew and I just moved here." The old man told me. "We just got jobs at a tea shop nearby. He's around your age and I'm sure the two of you would get along. If you have the time maybe you would like to stop by."

"Um...sure." I said kinda awkwardly.

The old man gave another bow before leaving. I shut and locked the door and went back to my waterbending. When I was done, I laid down and tried to go to sleep, but I couldn't. I don't know why, but I kept thinking about the old man's offer. Honestly, I never tried tea before, but maybe it would be good to go out and try something new.

The next night I was walking down the street back to my apartment. But then I stopped at the tea shop the old man mentioned. I noticed that it was still opened and looked inside and saw that there were a lot of people inside. So I slid the door opened and sat down at one of the empty tables.

"What would you like?" A stern voice asked me. I looked up to see a guy around his age with dark hair and a scar on his left eye. "Well?"

"Oh, um..." I said picking up the menu and looking at the list of tea's. I never had tea before, so I didn't recognize any of the flavors and had no idea what to order. "Um sorry I've never had tea before, what would you recommend?"

"I don't know, I don't drink the stuff." He told me.

"Then why do you work at a tea shop?" I asked him.

"Why would you come to a tea shop if you don't drink it?" He asked.

"I was invited." I told him. "By him." I pointed to the same old man that I met the other night, who was currently serving some officers.

"Uncle." The guy muttered under his breath.

"He's your uncle? So you're the nephew he talked about."

"He talked about me?"

"He said I should come because he thought we'd get along. I'm Kaito."

I held out his hand waiting for him to shake his hand. The guy looked at my hand, then at me, then at his uncle. The longer I held my hand out there the more awkward and uncomfortable I felt. Luckily he ended up shaking my hand.

"Li."

Just then the door slid opened. A guy with dark hair and some sort of twig in his mouth stood in the doorway before walking inside.
