Something Between You

After the events at Ba Sing Se, the Gaang made their way to safety. They flew to Chameleon Bay on Appa where they met up with Katara and Sokka's father, Hakoda and the other Water Tribe men. The Earth King decided to go off on his own with Bosco and parted ways with the others. Then the bay got overrun with Fire Nation ships. That's when they decided that instead of fighting them, they took over one of the ships and made it their own.

That's how they ended up where they are now, on a Fire Nation ship. Aang was still knocked out after what happened with him and Azula. And Kaito couldn't help but blame himself for what happened to Aang. After all, he trusted Zuko and he ended up betraying them in the end.

That's why Kaito was sitting in Aang's room. Just staring at him as he was resting, hoping he would wake up soon. He gets a little started when he hears someone comes in. But relaxes when he sees it's Katara.

"Is he still out?" She asked.

"Yeah." Kaito responded. "You came to do some more healing?"

Katara nodded. Then she walks over Aang and starts to unbandage him before she bends water onto his wounds.

"He'll wake up, right?" Kaito asked.

"He will." Katara assured him. "It'll just take some time."

"I still can't believe I let this happen." Kaito said starting to get angry.

"What happened to Aang isn't your fault." Katara told him. "The only people to blame for this is Azula and Zuko."

"Yeah but I was the one who convinced you to trust him." Kaito explained. "You were right to not trust him."

"I wish I wasn't." She told him. "Truth is I wanted to trust Zuko too. I wanted to believe he could be a good person and change but..."

"But he couldn't." He said. "I thought I could trust him. I thought he was my friend. I thought..." He stops talking. "But I was wrong."

Kaito noticed Katara giving him a strange look.

"What?" He asked.

"Nothing." She lied.

But Kaito could obviously tell that she was lying.

"Why are you giving me that look?" Kaito asked.

"Well...it's just...when we were trapped in the cave...it kinda seemed like...there was...something between you two." She said.

"Something between us?" Kaito asked confused. "What do you..."

Eventually he figured out what she was implying.

"What?!" He yells. "You think...that we were...NO! Absolutely not! Never!"

"Ok..." She said not really believe him.

Kaito then rolled his eyes before leaving. He went to his room and thought about what Katara was saying. And was starting to think that maybe she was right. Maybe there was something between them. But Kaito quickly shook that feeling off. Because even if there was something between them, those feeling surely went away after Zuko betrayed them...right?
