Bay
I approached Ashton that night we touched down in Vegas. I was so afraid or worried. What if he was mad at me?
I knocked on his door a few times. No answer. I tried again and this time, a lethargic looking and messed up Ashton opened the door. His eyes burnt mine as he walked to the side to let me in. The smell of alcohol trickled into the corridor.
I hesitated before stepping in.
His room was already in a mess. He looked angry and something else I couldn't quite place my finger on it.
"Ashton. We have-"
"We have to talk, yeah I know." He said curtly. I sighed and took a seat. He did so too.
"What's wrong Ashton?" I asked softly, concerned.
He buried his head in his hands before sucking in a sharp breath.
"Stop talking like that." He pleaded. He started shaking, and I could see his arms trembling. I didn't understand whatever he was saying.
"Like what?" I asked confusedly.
"Stop speaking so nicely. Like you care about me. Stop giving me false hope!" Ashton snapped. His voice echoed pass the four walls.
My mouth hung open in shock. What?
"Ashton, I do care about you." I stepped closer to him. Where was all this coming from? I tried to place my hands on his shoulder but he flinched at my touch. I felt offended. We were so happy the other day but he'd completely shut me out.
"You're with Calum. So, stop coming to me and touching me and making me feel like I have a chance in winning you back." I was completely taken aback by his outburst.
"Who ever said that Calum and I are a thing?" I retorted. I did not deserve to be yelled at. He paced the room, becoming more manic by the second. As if at any given moment, he would explode.
"I'm not an idiot, Bay. I know you're together! I know that he knocked you up!" He found out. Who told him? And he thought that Calum did it?
"What's going on?" Calum barged in with the door left wide open. He must have heard all the screaming.
"The two of you can go and have your fun, and please Bay, please leave me out of it. Spare me!" As he got his last word in, he hurled a punch to the wall. Or so he had intended. The punch landed square onto Calum's face, causing Calum to stumble. But Ashton didn't stop. Drunk and angry, he continued to hurl punches into the wall, leaving bloody knuckle prints on them. Calum placed himself between Ashton and the wall, saving him from damaging his hands but taking a bulk of the punches as a result. Calum was barely standing after Ashton released his anger with his fists and slurred words. Watching Calum and Ashton get hurt left me a sobbing wreck. I never intended it to become so messy.
"The child is yours, Ashton!" I screamed, like it was the only thing stopping him from accidentally knocking out his best friend. Calum took deep breaths. Blood was trickling from his nose. I got my phone out to call the ambulance. My shoulders shook violently as I cried, trying to get the words out. Ashton let out a shaky breath and attempted to steady himself.
"Please get out." He breathed. His voice lows in anger and shook aggressively.
"Ashton-"
"Get out!" Ashton cut Calum off in a scream. Both of us were taken aback. There were a few knocks on the door.
"Can we come in?" A woman called out. It was one of the paramedics that I have asked for earlier.
"Yes," I shouted shakily.
They came in with Michael and Luke trailing behind. The three paramedics studied Calum before gently placing him on the stretcher.
The paramedics took Calum out the door while Michael and Luke to a step towards us.
"What happened?" Luke asked.
"Please get out," Ashton growled.
All three of us looked at each other before walking out of Ashton's room. Leaving him alone to clear his mind. I was screwed.
"Bay. What happened?" Michael asked. With a shaky breath, I recounted the event. Michael and Luke stood solemnly by and listened closely, deciphering my unintelligible stammers. They were absolutely gobsmacked.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get Calum hurt. I didn't mean to, I promise." I sobbed. They placed their hands on my shoulders, hoping that that it was any consolation. But it wasn't.
Calum was left badly injured, Ashton probably hates me now more than ever for lying, and the secret's out.
