After everyone has photographed me like I'm some item on display, Bubblegum drags me to the table which holds lots of snacks and drinks. None are alcoholic, according to Bubblegum. Eunice follows us, but they look like they'd rather be anywhere but here. They're on their phone, texting God knows who.
"So, how did you two..." I point between them and Eunice raises a brow in amusement, turns to Bubblegum and cracks a smile.
"Mason!" They both say and I hum in confusion.
"She dated him, I hooked up with him," Eunice explains and my mouth forms an 'o' as I wonder what that weird feeling in my chest is. I remember Jason saying something about Mase having a crush on Eunice once upon a time.
"He's a really sweet guy, but he's polyamorous and I – it's just not my scene. I'm extremely monogamous and couldn't even imagine him dating someone else."
"I think you still like him," Bubblegum points out as she picks up a bottle of coke and a straw. "I told you I don't mind."
"I don't like him anymore. I love you."
"How does that work? Being polyamorous?" I ask. I don't know why I do. I shouldn't care. I really shouldn't. Jonathan is the one I have a crush on, and he likes me too. That's all I should care about.
"He can date fall for multiple people, is basically the summary," Eunice explains. I think of him always flirting with Jonathan.
"Is that really possible? Having feelings for more than one person?"
"I get the feeling this isn't just about Mason," Bubblegum detects, toying with her straw before drawing it between her lips.
"Is this about Jonathan?"
I jump at the new voice and my surprise quickly turns into anger the moment I register who just spoke.
Leah fucking Stephenson!
I look around, half expecting my moron of an ex-boyfriend to be hovering around her like he has no life of his own, but she's alone.
She's in a blue two-piece bikini with a white jacket over it. She has her sandy blond hair in an intricate updo with some curly locks framing her annoying perfect face. Her dark eyes are trained on me and she has a look in them that I haven't seen in a really long time.
She's looking at me like she cares.
I scowl!
Who the fuck wears heels to something like this? A pretentious bitch, is who!
"I've been a bitch."
Understatement of the fucking year.
"Hey! No words like that here! This is a positive space!" Bubblegum chimes in.
"Baby, I don't think they're very positive about each other right now," Eunice whispers to her.
"They're not? Why?"
