Hannah picked up by the third ring. "What's up, Susie?"

"Hannah, hi. Hope I'm not disturbing?" I asked carefully, rubbing one hand across my thigh nervously.

"Always so courteous and distanced, Susannah Williams. It makes really hard for the others to summon up enough courage to speak to you, you aware of?"

"Then where did you get that courage?"

"Nowhere. You seat next to me so I was somehow forced to talk to you."

"A guy kind of confessed his feelings to me. But I messed up," I blurted out.

"Wait- who?"

"Phillip Walkers. You know him?" I asked.

"I reckon we attended the same chemistry class last year. Isn't it that guy with the curly blond hairs and watercolour eyes? He was an ace at chemistry." She remembered.

"Yeah, that's him."

Hannah remained silent for what felt like an eternity.

"Holy shit. I knew it!" She exclaimed.

"What do you know?"

"That Phillip Walkers is into you. When Emily and I went out for coffee the other day, he was there, too. He stopped at our table and asked for your number since you aren't in one of the group chats."

Now it was my turn to be speechless.

"Please don't be mad, Susie. I wasn't actually going to give him your number but Emily did it anyway. I'm sorry." My friend apologised.

A slight wave of displeasure overcame me. Emily. Had she ever considered me as a friend who she should treated with some kind of respect? Although Phillip was familiar, she should have asked for permission for giving away my number.

"Hannah, it's fine. No worries."

"Don't blame Emily as well. She might be mean sometimes but her nature is good, I can tell."

I sighed. "What am I supposed to do, Hannah? There's this huge misunderstanding between Phillip and me."

"Wanna come over so we can talk face to face? I'm not fond of phone calls."
