"What do you need again?" I questioned Sara, walking around the damned lingerie store for the third time. She kept picking up different things and kept deciding that it wasn't what she was looking for. I still had no idea why she even wanted to buy more lingerie other than 'to surprise Ashton of course'. But if you asked me their sex life was interesting enough as it was.

"I need something good." She hummed, her fingers lightly tracing the blue lace of yet another two piece set.

"What's the special occasion?"

"Do I need one? I'm just trying to surprise my lovely
boyfriend." She quipped, glancing at me quickly before moving onto a dark green teddy. "I think this would look nice on you."

"I don't need any lingerie." I mumbled, though I couldn't lie that I did very much like the emerald color.

"Every girl needs at least one set... at least one." She said, giving me a look over her shoulder. I huffed lightly, laughing slightly as she picked it up and tossed it at me.

"I have no one to wear it for." I said, a pant of sadness shooting through my heart for a quick second. Truth is I wouldn't mind having the little piece hidden in the back of drawer, but all it would do is remind me that I'm alone.

"You don't need anyone to wear it for. You wear it for yourself." She practically sang, her eyes glued to a dark purple corset. "It gives you a nice sense of confidence... a little more pep in your step, if you will." She teased, looking through the corsets until she found her size. "I'm going to try this on... you think about buying that." She said pointedly, waving the hanger she had picked up towards the teddy I had put down.

I rolled my eyes, shooing her off towards the dressing room. I walked around aimlessly while I waited for her, my eyes constantly drifting back towards the dark green lace. Green had never been one of my favorite colors, but something about the lace kept my eyes coming back to it. The way the light shined off the little gold metallic pieces of thread sewn throughout the fabric was mesmerizing. The entirety of it was lace, giving it that delicate look, yet it was entirely sexy at the same time.

Before I knew it I had the material back in my hands, still admiring the soft yet dark look of it. The straps were thin, the v-cut of the front cutting all the down to the navel, and the back completely open. I absolutely did not need it, but the more I looked at it the more I wanted it. If Sara was right, what could be the harm in giving myself a little confidence boost.

"It'll look super good." I jumped when Sara suddenly appeared next to me again, nudging my shoulder lightly. "Even if it's only for yourself." She dropped her right eye in a wink before shoving me towards the check out.

It had only taken about five minutes to regret buying the damn thing. We were walking back down the street towards our apartment, the little bag hitting off my legs as we strolled silently. Sara was busy typing away on her phone, no doubt letting Ashton know how lucky he was going to be later tonight. I, on the other hand, was the idiot who bought lingerie in hopes of gaining some confidence that I knew would never actually get.

Confidence was only for good people, not pieces of shit like me.

"You have to wear it tonight." Sara mumbled, her eyes still glued to her phone.

"What?"

"You have to wear that tonight." She repeated, lifting her leg up to kick my bag gently.

"Wear it tonight while Im laying in bed watching Friends for the hundredth time?" I questioned, my eyebrows furrowed in confusion as I looked at her.

"No." She said, dragging out the word slowly. "We're going out for drinks."

"Are we now?"

"Mhmm." She sang, smirking lowly. "We're going to your favorite bar-"
