Chapter XXVI: Where She is

A/N: Hewwo everyone!! Here's another update. This one's pretty short but I hope you enjoy! School's coming near ugh but I'll try my best to update!

Chapter XXVI: Where She is

Star wrote in Mewnian language, so she translated it for Marco. There were a lot of things on Marco's mind, as if he was stuck in a labyrinth of puzzles. As much as he loved puzzles, very difficult ones required much brainpower, and he was sure this one would drain all his juices. Marco squinted his eyes in concentration, and tried his best to connect the pieces of information together. Suddenly, a bright idea popped in his head.

"What if...Luna's a person?" Marco said with a tone of surprise. Star laid the notebook on a table and flipped the pages open to reveal a bunch of scribbles. Some were in Mewnian language, some were in English. Star's writing was still sloppy even in his body. The children gathered around the table and examined the notebook as if they understood it even if they didn't.

"I'm not entirely sure but Ethan addressed it as she. And he said he met her once." Star stated.

"He met her?" Marco exclaimed. He checked the notes out. There were a couple of circles in which the notes were. They were all connected together with arrows. There were a couple of scribbles here and there which sort of explained the notes.

She's a girl.

She likes cursing people.

Ethan looks like someone she met before.

She lives on this rocky dimension.

She's alone.

She wants love.

She gave Ethan a flower.

The place was isolated.

Marco furrowed his brows in confusion. He tried to piece the whole picture together, but there was still something missing and it was at the tip of his tongue.

Star explained everything that Ethan told her for the past few days including Ethan's condition, everything he told her about the blood moon and everything else. Star scribbled some additional notes about their meeting yesterday. "See here, this is the first hint he told me about. He said she was a girl which is pretty obvious. And this here, means she put this curse on us because she just wanted to. Can you believe that?" Star said, trailing her index from one circle to another, while Marco carefully maintained his focus on each of the notes Star added. Nothing came to useful in each of the hints he dropped.

Marco tilted his head at Star. "Hey, how about this sixth one? What did he mean she wants love?" He asked, pointing at the circle on the right page. Star rubbed her chin with her thumb and index. "Umm...I'm not quite sure." She dubiously stated as she furrowed his brows.

"Anyways, let's go back here. On the seventh day, he said something about a flower, I don't really know. And then..." Star continued but Marco was already tuning out as he tried to figure out what the hints meant. This could all lead to one simple answer and yet it failed to reach their minds. Something rocky, something dark, something isolated. Where could that be?

"Star, do you know any place which adds up to the hints he gave us?" He asked. Star bit her inner cheek as she thought of a place. She then flipped the pages and scribbled some more notes just to make sure she got each and every place that was similar to the hints.

Suddenly, Marco's eyes widened in realization once he pieced the image together. It was so simple. How could he not have guessed this before?

Marco prodded Star's elbow. Star tilted her head awaiting for an idea from her friend. "Star...could it be?..." Marco began. Star anticipated. "...that Luna's on the moon?" He asked. Star just blinked her eyes. "Marco...that's...brilliant! Let's go there right now and ask her to remove this stinking curse from us." She said patted Marco on the back. "Marco, you magic me some space bubble to help me breathe and I should find her there," Star said.
"But...how exactly do you?..."

"Just say...shimmering space bubble! And just swish your finger like this..." Star lectured him and swished her finger in an aggressive manner. Marco imitated her. "So...uhh...shimmering...space bubble?" Marco said unsurely, conjuring a deflated bubble. "No! Not shimmering space bubble...it's SHIMMERING SPACE BUBBLE!" She instructed him. Marco pointed his finger at Star, feeling his nerves getting to him. "Alright...shimmering space bubble!"

He conjured up a huge pink bubble which floated towards Star. It plopped through Star's head and stayed there. Star grabbed Marco's dimensional scissors and used it to get to the earth-moon. She went inside and Marco anxiously waited outside. Star went back with a disappointed look on her face.

"Nope, she wasn't there." Star stated and prompted to pop the bobble. Marco bit his lip. "If she isn't in the earth-moon, then where in the universe could she be?" He asked her with anxiousness. "There are millions of moons in the entire solar system alone, but where do we even start?" He said, looking down on his feet, disappointedly looking down.

Star moved closer to Marco's side. "That's alright, Marco. We'll find her soon enough. I'll ask Ethan and pry him if I have to." She reassured him. Marco glanced at Star. He realized Star became more responsible. She helped set the birthday party up, helped Buff Frog out and did her best to make the most out of any situation. He was glad his friend is growing.

"Thanks, Star. I just have one simple question, after he gives you all of the hints, what would happen then? Would you still give him your time?" Marco asked. Star thought about it. She enjoyed Ethan's company so maybe she could hang out with him as friends instead of some deal.

"Well, yeah. I guess. I think we've gotten closer." Star happily stated.

"So...have you developed any feelings for him yet? Are you the future queen of Blumendia?" Marco asked. He didn't like those words at all. Feelings, queen, and the thought of Star marrying someone else was just too much for him. Since Star wasn't speaking, that must mean she was unsure. It gave him an ounce of relief.

"I'm not really sure. Ethan's a good friend, but I'm just not sure if I'm ready for the marriage stuff just yet." She said frowning upon herself. "Well, whatever Ethan does, I would not allow him to do anything bad to you. This is your life, he shouldn't force himself on you. Besides, I'm pretty sure Moon wouldn't allow it as well," Marco crossed his arms as he explained.

"Thanks, Marco...I knew I could always count on you. She said and hugged him into an embrace. One of the children cleared their throat. The two broke apart from their embrace. "You're forgetting we're here," Katrina said. She pointed at her siblings, who have obviously destroyed the whole room.

"Why did we even agree to this?" They said in unison, bowing their heads in defeat. Yet, when they raised their heads, they were surprised to see that everything was suddenly in order. All the nooks and crannies turned squeaky clean. "W-wha?" Marco asked to no one in particular, even rubbing his eyes. They then saw Katrina commanding the little ones who were assembled into one line. "Aaaanndd...sit!" She beckoned downwards with a smug look on her face. The children followed her orders as if she was some kind of officer they should respect. He turned to see how Star reacted, only to find that she was sitting behind the children, following along Katrina's orders.

Marco couldn't be happier. He rushed towards Katrina and hugged her. "Kat, you're a natural!" He exclaimed and put her down. "Why didn't you do this before?" He said.

She just shrugged. "Meh, I was just lazy. And I thought you needed help so..."

"thankyou-thankyou-thankyou-thankyou-thankyou!" He repeated. "Could you uhh--keep that up until your dad comes back?" He asked with a sheepish smile. Katrina didn't seem to care, and just said "Eh-why not?"

With that, Marco threw himself on his bed and snored in a jiffy. Thanks to Katrina, he could sleep for the first time in what felt like ages. Even though they just had kids for a day.
