Alan's POV
"Here's those reports you wanted," I said walking into Vic's office. It was just us in the office right now since we stayed after hours to catch up on a few things. The sales people left, the quality control people, HR and literally everyone was gone but us. I told my colleagues in accounting that I'd handle the bit we needed to catch up on. I didn't mind and my mom told me she'd take care of Benji and bring him to Becca's for me tonight.
"Thank you," Vic said with a small smile. "And thank you for staying late, it really means a lot."
"It's not a problem, no Benji for the weekend so I've got no one to go home to," I said honestly.
"Oh," he said, nodding his head.
I nodded, "I'm gonna go finish up a couple things before I head out."
"Okay," he said and paused. "Hey, would you want to come over and have dinner with Rosie and me? I'm making Rosie's favorite," Vic said hesitantly.
"Uh, I don't wanna intrude."
"Ashby, I'm inviting you, that means you're not intruding."
I put my hands up, "Okay, sure I'll come over."
"Good," he said, smiling. "I'm making empanadas."
"That'll be good."
"Yeah, they're going to be amazing. Not to toot my own horn or anything."
"I'll be the judge of that."
Vic grinned. "Oh, you'll see. I have a masters in culinary, they're pretty good Ash."
"Ash?"
He shrugged. "Do you not like it?"
"No, no it's cute."
Vic grinned. "I'm glad you think so. Now let's get this work finished so I can see my kid."
"For sure."
He nodded at me and went back to his computer to finish up some orders. I smiled and went back to mine. I couldn't wait for dinner honestly. I was nervous especially considering he was my boss but at the same time, it was just as friends, wasn't it? I mean yeah, his daughter was gonna be there. I was still nervous though.
I didn't have a reason to be nervous though, but I felt like I should be. I was having dinner with my boss and his daughter, it was nerve wracking. It should be fun though, I'd have fun and I'd do my best not to be awkward. Besides, Rosie was the cutest little girl. She was honestly so sweet and just a little angel.
"You ready to go?" Vic asked a few minutes later.
"Yeah, i am."
"Alright," he said, giving me a small smile. "You wanna just follow me home? My mom's watching Rosie at my house right now."
"I can do that," I said with a smile.
Vic smiled at me once more before the two of us headed out. I got into my car and he went to his and before I knew it I was following him home. When we got to his house I looked at him with a smile before I followed him inside his home.
It was very clean and it smelled like baked goods. I loved it and I smiled when I saw Rosie run down the stairs with an older woman in tow.
"Daddy!" Rosie shouted and launched into Vic's arms. "You're late, Grandma said you forgot to come home."
"She knew I was gonna be home late," Vic said smiling at his daughter.
"I know but I still missed you," she said, twisting Vic's hair and looked at me. "Alan!"
