It's Up To You Now

Grey didn't respond he stepped aside for the paramedics, his words caught in his throat. He'd  completely forgotten his father's appearance last night.

Alexia clung onto his arm, her eyes searching his face for something but it was blank. Grey was confused by his emotions, they were so mixed that nothing could come up to the surface.

His eyes met his father's as he was taken to the ambulance. What was happening?

Grey's mind slowly put the pieces together of what was happening but yet he still didn't know how to feel, he glanced down at Alexia, her eyes were filled with worry. Mark cleared his throat after a few minutes.

"We should get to the hospital"

The all rode in one car, it was silent the entire time, the noises of the world around them filled in the quiet space.

Alexia clung onto Grey's arm as they followed Dr. Adams to Daniel's hospital room. Alexia wanted to hear something from Grey but he was mute

Mark grabbed onto Alexia's arm causing her to let go of Grey, he froze at the loss of her warmth.

"I think you should go in there alone" Alexia gave Grey a reassuring nod and nudged him towards the door.

He opened the door, shoving his heart in his pocket. He took a deep breath upon seeing his father, his face was white as snow. The slow beep of the heart monitor hid the sound of Daniel's soft breaths.

His breathing hitched, he didn't know what to do. Daniel raised his hand, Finn hesitated but moved towards him.

Finn stood next to his father with tears cascading down his face. Daniel gently took his sons hand into his, a tease slid down Finn's face and onto his father's hand.

Daniel finally opened his eyes, squinting because of the bright morning sun. His eyes slowly drifted up towards Finn, his lips trembled as he tried to form a sentence.

"I'm sorry" Daniel's voice was coarse

Finn stared at his father, he apologised and was that enough for him. The tears that flowed from his eyes never ceased, a sob left his lips.

"I wasn't there for you, I could have saved you but I didn't. I know you hate me" Finn frowned

"I don't hate you.....I'm just disappointed and afraid" Daniel's eyes met his son's own, he couldn't help but let a few tears of his own slip.

"You don't have to be afraid of me. Of all my years on this Earth you are my greatest creation" Finn could believe his ears, his heart leaped. He placed his father's hand on his head, Daniel smoothed his hair, Finn loved the feeling of this slight praise from his father.

He felt happy, genuinely happy for the first time in years. His father actually cared.

"Can you call everyone?" Finn wiped his tears and nodded

The all stood around his bed, Mark, Jackson, Alexia and Finn. Daniel smiled, he didn't have to worry, his son was in good hands.

"I honestly don't know what to tell you all but thank you. You've all done the job I couldn't do and I am so sorry for that" Daniel took a deep breath as the heart monitor began to slow further. He took Finn's hand into his

"I can finally rest knowing that my son will be ok" Daniel's eyes fell upon Alexia's watery eyes

"You are truly beautiful. Take care of him, all of you. I may not be religious but I know I will be looking out for all of you" Daniel coughed violently and began wheezing. Finn was about to go get the doctor but Daniel squeezed his hand, clearing his throat
