The next morning Angela shook me awake and we all had breakfast together with the lady that owned the cottage. Zac picked at his food and didn't partake in the table conversations, but I didn't let it show that it bothered me. I wasn't sure how to handle the situation. I felt like I may have hurt his feelings by not trusting him, but I also felt like I had a good enough reason not to trust him. He's done so much that I won't be able to just get over. But I did want him to know that I wasn't planning any of the things that had happened the previous night. I wasn't sure if I wanted to explain myself though.
Once we finished breakfast I thanked the lady for letting us stay in her cottage. The lady was so kind that she even packed a basket with lunch for us. We said our goodbyes to her and after that, we were on our way to say goodbye to Erin.

Once everyone was packing their things in the car I took a moment to talk to Zac, I had to clear the air between us because I didn't like the guilty churning that I felt in my stomach every time we made eye contact. I let the others get in the car first and luckily Zac was the last one to get in. Before he did I stopped him.
"Can we talk for a second?" I asked and lightly grabbed his elbow. He just looked at me with his poker face on and didn't say a word. I wasn't sure of what to do so I just started explaining myself.
"The guy you saw me with last night is the guy that helped me when I needed money to get to Florendale," I stated and watched him for his reaction. He just shrugged and said, "So?" his attitude was making things even harder for me.
"So, last night I only went to say goodbye and to thank him for helping me," I finished.
"And then you ended up kissing him," he said blankly.
"No, he kissed me. And it was only for a second before I pulled away so I really don't get what you're mad at me for," I exclaimed. He sighed and turned away from me to get on the bus and I followed him. What made things even more awkward was that Jeremy and Angela were sharing a seat and Adam and Meghan were sitting together, so I had to sit next to Zac again. Needless to say, the trip got really awkward.

We drove all the way to the spot that looked nice enough to say goodbye to Erin. We wanted to stop at a couple of places but Megan wanted the perfect spot.
"Erin always said that she wanted to be sent away on the water while the sun sets, we have to find a way to make her wish a reality," Megan said.
"Okay, well you're in luck because there's a river right up ahead," Zac said and pointed in the direction that he was talking about.
"I would have taken you there, but I don't want to stay for the formalities if you don't mind. I would like to get back to my family as soon as I can," Grant said after a long silence.
Once we got there it was already late in the afternoon, but we had enough time to pick out a nice spot to send Erin away and to pick some flowers. The river was extremely beautiful, the grass around it was as green as grass can be and it had a lovely view of the ocean on the horizon and the hills around us.
I wouldn't mind being sent away at the exact same spot, because it was just glorious. Finally, the sun was low enough for us to begin with the little ceremony. Each of us said some words and Megan was the last one to speak. She spoke well, but she couldn't hide all the sobs that snuck through.
"Erin was my twin and my best friend, we did almost everything together. I still remember all the great memories we had together. Like that time we went camping and she scared the crap out of our camping neighbours with her fake snake. Or the time she started a cake fight in the cafeteria. She was always the life of the party and she always knew how to make anything a lot more fun. That's what I'm going to miss the most about her. My life will never be the same without her, none of our lives will be the same without her. I hope your journey to the other side is blessed, and hopefully one day I will join you there. This isn't a goodbye, it's a see you later," Megan sobbed and fell down on her knees next to the urn. Then she opened it up and poured the ashes into the water.
