When we reached the waterfall, I scanned the entire place for anything that could help to take care of my wounds. I wasn't exactly sure what would help though, but Adam had this covered because he had first aid training and he was a boys scout back in the day. My eyes followed the stream of the waterfall. The water formed a little river that flowed as far as the eye could see. It was a gorgeous waterfall in the daylight, the water was crystal clear and it was as blue as the sky. There were little rocks and stones lining the bottom of the river and I thanked my lucky stars that I had managed to jump into the deeper part of the water the night before.

Without a single word, I started walking in the same direction as the stream. I could hear that Adam was walking behind me so I didn't stop. I was surprised that I could walk faster than he could, given that I had some flesh missing in my upper leg and that I had shorter legs.

"Luna, I'm sorry for leaving you behind last night I was just..." Adam started, his eyes drifted down to my bandaged leg "Wait, what happened to your leg? Maybe I should check it out for you," he said running closer and crouching down "wow this is all my fault." he said running his hand through his hair and frowning down at my leg.

"Oh, it's nothing, I'm fine Adam, don't worry about it," I shrugged while looking down to face him with a small smile on my face "I mean, I am walking faster than you aren't I?" I joked.

"Ha, you wish! I'm just walking behind you so I can protect you from the monsters that might sneak up on you," he said and I raised my eyebrow at him in response.

"Yeah, my hero," I said sarcastically and rolled my eyes. When I looked back at him his face fell and he looked pained.

"Hmpf, I'm hardly a hero-" he looked up with a sincerity in his dark blue eyes that startled me and then he continued- "I'm sorry about leaving you behind. I was just scared for my own life and my survival instincts took over," he apologised again and I rolled my eyes.

"Adam, you don't have to be sorry. I am not your responsibility" I assured him and smiled warmly.

"I know, but I care about you and about all the others in our group. I want to make sure you guys are safe because you matter to me," his words made me aww. I knew he only meant it in a brotherly way and that is the way I interpreted it.

I smiled sweetly at him and then had an awkward instinctive urge to give him a hug, but then I started overthinking it and eventually I thought I would go for it but by that time moment was already over so I didn't go in for one. I turned on my heel and started walking again to get rid of the internal awkwardness I felt inside. I followed the stream and Adam followed me, after a while we found a banana tree and we both ate our fair share of bananas, Jason even took off some bananas and shoved them into my backpack.

"Just remember if you help to pack the load then you help to carry the load okay?" I said playfully, but he didn't take it as a joke and took the backpack from me so he could carry it, then he said, "yes, of course, I'm sorry, I can't let you carry it with your sore shoulders."

I sighed, "That's not what I meant, I was just teasing you," I said and looked down, feeling bad for confusing him.

"My father always says that most of the truest words are spoken in jest"

"A jest?" I asked.

"Yes, like in a joking manner," he explained and I let out an "oh" and then I explained that his father's advice was wrong in this particular situation. Then he got mad at me for not respecting his father's advice and walked off with an angry red face. He then found a plastic bottle beside the river it was crinkled and squished but he took it anyway. He then filled it to the brim with water and kept searching for, well I wasn't entirely sure what we were looking for.
