"So, when are we doing this?" Alex asks

......

It felt like forever since I last stepped in school because of how classes had been cancelled severally.

I took a seat in the corner of the room and prayed that no annoying person sits next to me, and just incase they do I will be having my earphones on.

As luck would have it, some guy who had pep talked himself into sitting next to me the next time we have class in an effort to talk to me, took the seat beside me. Then he started talking, and I was definitely ignoring him.

Do people seriously not know that when earphones are on you back off? Especially if the person in earphones is not close to you.

"Now,turn to your neighbour and discuss nature versus nuture. You will also write that paper together and submit it next week." The lecturer said walking out of class.

No way am I doing a joint assignment with this guy.

"Alex!" I shouted to the guy at the very back of the room as I hurriedly packed my bag and ran towards him.

"You're my partner," I said ignoring the girl who was definitely here to join forces with him.

She gives me an ugly look and I can tell she wants to tell me "I was here first," and I know she was, but I'm selfish.

"Sophie, what is it you were saying?" Alex asks the girl as if he does not know why she was there.

"I wanted us to do this assignment together." She stated

"Uh, I already have a partner here," Alex said and Sophie walked away in a manner that spelt anger.

So Alex is a guy I've been seeing in this class and along the school corridors. He looks decent and seems like someone I can stand. How I know his name is a mystery because I have never once spoken to him or of him until now.

"Lets start the discussion," someone says wrapping their fingers which if I must say were rough, around my arm.

I quickly jerk my hand away and give him the one up look, like is he crazy?

"What discussion?" I ask

"The one on nature," he replies with some sort of entitlement.

"Look. Don't you ever touch me again or God so help me and, I already have a partner," I say pulling a chair next to Alex.

He does not move and I do not care, I sit in my chair with one hand to my ear as I fix my earphones.

Alex just looks at the guy, then turns to his phone joining me in ignoring the guy.

Eventually, he leaves.

"So,when are we doing this?" Alex asks to which I shrug my shoulders and continue scrolling down the timeline when I realise that I need to stop. Need to stop because I have spent thirty minutes muting every single post on my timeline because they reminded me of Chris. The Chris I need to let go of.

"What?" Alex asked looking up from his phone when I put mine down.

"What are you doing this whole week?" I ask.

"Not that I need the details, but are you free to study and finish this paper?" I ask

"I'm free everyday," he replied not looking up from his phone.

But is he really free? Because I think he always has secret sexually explicit things to do dialy as I've picked from the vibe he gives off.

"My place or yours?" He asks looking up.

I had to think about that. I think we have an unspoken rule called no boys allowed at home and I do not have any guarantee on how safe I will be at his place. Bring him home,if I bring him home. Do you see how wrong that sounds? Alternatively, we can go to his place and the whole world will think I am going down town with Alex.

I never knew how heavy people's opinions were until now,so which will it be? The wrath of my mum for bringing a boy home or the shame of this whole school thinking I am taking sex education on a practical level with Alex.

Sorry mum, but the opinion of other people right now is more important to me than this unwritten rule of yours. Besides, you won't know.
