"GABE!" I screamed. "LET HER GO RIGHT NOW!"

"Gabriel!" the door burst open and Laura and Brad rushed in. Brad wore a look of horror on his face. "Don't do this," Laura cried. Brad ran to the open window and looked down. "Damnit," I heard him swear. "DAMNIT!" he kicked a chair and it clattered to the floor in pieces. Laura waved her hands furiously. "We'll give you everything," she pleaded. "Just please leave them alone, Gabriel. I've known you for a long time, sweetie. It's not too late to change this, and it's not too late to get forgiveness."

I was frozen. I couldn't move. I watched as the screen unfolded the events, and I stayed glued, not making a single movement to alter what was happening. I couldn't reach her. I couldn't stop him.

"Sean made it easy," he grinned maniacally, stroking Kaycee's face as she shook in terror. I wanted to reach through the screen and kill him. "Kaycee, hold on," I whispered. She closed her eyes in pain as he leered close to her and pounded his fist on the desk. Laura jumped. "I made some connections with the city electric guys, did some call tracing, and it lead me straight to you. Didn't make it very hard, did you, Lew? It was like you were almost tempting me to find her," he laughed, snapping his fingers to accentuate the word. "

"I'll give you whatever you want," I said through clenched teeth. "Just please don't hurt her."

"Hurt her?" he shook his head. "Sean, you were always the dumb one of the group. Why would I ever want to hurt her?"

"Do we have to answer that?" Brad asked from off-screen.

"I wouldn't hurt her, she did nothing wrong, except of course, for choosing him over me so long ago," he said. Kaycee's eyes narrowed and she attempted to wrestle out of his grasp but he caught her arm and using his free hand, twisted it slightly behind her back, allowing a small gasp of pain to escape from her lips. It was enough to make my blood boil. "I'm going to hurt you, Sean, like you did me all those years ago, by making me lose her. Now you get to see how it feels."

"Don't do it," I begged.

"You have 30 minutes to get here, Lew. Or you can forget what I said earlier," he sneered, opening his jacket to reveal a gun. Kaycee's eyes widened as he withdrew it and fired warning shots into the air. Her scream was muffled as Brad grabbed Laura as plaster rained down from the ceiling.

I'm coming, Kayc.

22 minutes later

I slammed the door and my feet pounded the pavement. I swung open the door. "GABE!" I screamed, my voice hoarse. "THIS ENDS NOW!"

"What does?" he sauntered out from the bedroom. "Her life....or yours?"

"This," I spat. "Give it up, man. I didn't take your dance partner-she came on her own free will."

He rapped the gun against Kaycee's skull, making her wince. "Where are Brad and Laura?"

"Upstairs," he smiled evilly. "Not interfering. Anymore."

"You didn't-"

"Of course not, God, you act like I'm such a bad person," he smiled coolly. He pointed to the top, and I strained my ear to hear.

Pounding on the door and yelling. Locked in. I breathed out. They were fine, at least for now. I snapped my focus back to him. He was calm because he was in control.
