Astronomy class was interesting but, I couldn't focus. I couldn't believe it. Nightmare, the history teacher at my school, is my biological father. Was my mother ever going to tell me? Aunt Raven knew about it? Was my medicine really just a potion to help me keep this human form?

I didn't even notice the final bell rang, dismissing the tired students to either work or home until Dream tapped on the desk in front of me.

"I understand that this must be very difficult to process but it was kept from you, both of you, for good reason." I looked up at him, feeling the tears well in my eyes. "Your mother wanted to protect you both." I sighed, shook my head and stood. "You have to believe me. Your mother didn't want to do it. She just thought it was the best option."

"Don't try to convince her that what you did was right." I turned my head and saw that Nightmare was standing in the doorway. "You, Raven and Dove took away the relationship between Coraline and I. We had no say in the decision."

"Brother, you do not worry for your own safety. If you had found out you surely would have become a Jumper, just to hunt down those who hunt your daughter. Those who murdered your past lover." Dream's voice rose but his tone was serious. I felt myself start shaking at the mention of my mother's murder. I could remember it so well. The glowing blue strings, the bloody hatchet, my mother's screams of agony.

Before I knew it, I was pushing my father out of the door and running down the hallway. I could hear both males call after me but my legs pushed me to keep running. I don't know where I was going but I didn't care. I just wanted to get away from the memories. I wanted to get away from the sharp, painfilled aching in my chest. It's been ten days since my mom and dad died, six since my parents were buried and three since I started my life here.

Why? What the hell was so dangerous? Why did my mother have to die in order for me to gain this knowledge? What is after me and those who get close to me?

I leaned against a door to catch my breath. It's been a long time since I ran like that. "Cora? What's wrong?" I jumped and looked at the source of the voice.

It was PaperJam, Palette, and the skeleton that attacked me. I waved at them but yelped when the door I was leaning on opened up.

"Cora!" Palette shouted out. I rubbed my backside and looked up at the skeletons. The skeleton that attacked me laughed, PaperJam chuckled and Palette held out his hand to me. "Are you okay?"

I nodded and took the hand that was held out to me. "Coraline! What happened?" Dream and my father ran up to me. Dream started checking me over for injuries.

"Did you push her or something?" Nightmare glared at the three skeletons. They all shook their skulls back and forth.

"Nightmare? What are you accusing my boys of?" Ink walked up, wiping paint off of his finger bones. I held up my hands and stood in front of my father and Dream.

"We didn't do anything to her, Uncle Nightmare. The door opened while she was leaning on it and she fell. We were helping her up." Palette explained. Nightmare nodded and looked at me, his eyes softening.

"Don't run off like that. We promised your aunt we would walk you home." Dream rubbed my head.

"Dream..?" Ink was watching our exchange. "Is she the one you told me about..?" Dream nodded, ignoring Nightmare's glare. Nightmare slapped Dream's skull.

"You told your damn ex-husband about this situation? You let everyone know but me!?" I looked between Dream and Ink.

"Hey, father? Why are you walking Cora home?" Palette asked and I felt my eyes widen.
