I know what I saw, even though everyone is looking at me like I'm crazy. PaperJam's voice cut through the silence. "What do you mean?"
"I just saw a portal close." I dialed my dad's number on my cell. "I saw the puppet master and this strange goopy thing." Ink rushed to the hallway closet and Error quickly explained the situation to Gradient. Nightmare picked up the phone.
"Coraline? You never call."
"I know but this is important."
"What's going on?" I heard Uncle Dream in the background. Nightmare shushed him.
"You both need to get to Ink and Error's house and please bring my aunt."
"We'll be there soon." I heard rustling on the other side of the call.
"And tell Dream that he also needs to comfort his son." Nightmare relays the message before I hang up the call. Within minutes the entire group, plus one hyperactive skeleton and excluding a heartbroken Palette. I quickly explained what I saw to everyone and all of their reactions were pretty much the same.
"This is a big problem, though it should have been expected when Ruru knows where you are." The Creator mumbled out. For some reason this caused the short, hyperactive skeleton to giggle.
"You used the nickname again, Ink," he giggled more, kicking his feet like a child. "But the human needs our help. What are we gonna do for them?"
"We have no choice but to do what we did for Dove and Raven." My aunt narrowed her eyes at this.
"You're taking her away from all she knows if you do this."
"Raven, there's no other choice. The Star Sanses can't be in this universe to protect her 24-7," Ink argued back.
"Do you even know how many universes there are that would kill to have her soul?" Nightmare pitched in.
"We could at least let someone go with her," Dream suggested.
"Who can go with her without screwing up the code?" A new voice asked this question and everyone went silent. I looked around and saw Palette clutching his pillow at the bottom of the staircase. He had bags under his eye sockets and he looked extremely tired.
"Pally!" Dream and Ink shot up and hugged their son.
"What do you know about the code, kid?" The Creator raised an eyebrow at him.
"I know it's all kinds of messed up now. It's never been like this before, no matter the run." Ink and Dream pulled away from the hug and looked at Palette strangely.
"Your kid's smart and observant." The hyperactive skeleton smiled at Palette.
"The high school part of this universe mainly focuses on the relationship developing between Fresh and PJ, with many developing relationships around them. One such example is Mr. Mettaton and the classified nerd 'Papyrus.'" My all of the teenager's phones buzzed at the same time. It was a text from BP which included a picture of the tall skeleton and the pink and black robot kissing in the costume closet.
"This is gonna be a scandal tomorrow," Cil muttered.
"It always is. Eventually it will be accepted. Poor Papy gets bullied a lot more because of it," Palette glances at his brother and sister.
"Wait, if things revolve around Fresh and I then, is that why I continuously think about and run into him?" I felt a stab in my heart but decided to ignore it.
"We're getting off topic here." Aunt Raven's tone held impatience. "We need to figure out what to do. I have no ties to this universe originally so I should go with Coraline."
"You can't do that." The Creator stood. "If you leave then they will only destroy the universe since it's not useful anymore. You have to stay."
My aunt looked like she was gonna say something but I placed my hand on her shoulder. "I'll be fine with whoever is decided. I know how to stay safe." She didn't look convinced but she quieted down.
"No matter who we choose in this group the code would change drastically in this run." Palette came up to me and I wrapped my arm around his shoulder. "It's already changed quite a bit."
The creator pulled out a tablet like thing and started messing around on it. "You're right though, I'm not sure how I didn't notice this before."
"There can be a way to condense it to just this timeline though that would require us to act fast on all parts. We'd have to get ahold of the others so we can stop Nightmare's hunting once and for all."
"You're right Blueberry but for now, we have to hide out Cora in one of the pacifist universes. It doesn't matter if one of the main characters of this universe disappears in this timeline."
"I'll go then." PaperJam stepped forward. "I promised myself I would protect my friends and that's what I'm going to do." Ink and Error beamed with pride, as well as the Creator but for me, there was another arrow of pain.
"That settles that then. What universe should we take them to?" The Creator looked at Raven and Blueberry, I guess his name is.
"Dancetale would fit Coraline's interests and she'll be able to change her appearance easily." Aunt Raven looked down at her hands, obviously sad I have to go. I mean, I'm the only thing she has left of my mother.
"Plus, Dance will help us out since he and Dove were great friends," Blueberry smiled at me. "She would always make friends out of everyone. No matter who they were."
"Alright. We'll take them to Dancetale as soon as possible. We'll make sure Dance knows the situation and helps out with hiding them."
Aunt Raven hugged me tight. I could tell she was trying to hold back her tears so I didn't say anything to make it worse for her. Dad, Uncle Dream, Ink, everyone. They all joined in on the hug.
"Once all of this is over and done with, Cora and PJ will return to the universe and live out their lives. Until then, I'm afraid that this is goodbye." The Creator took his paintbrush and opened up a portal.
"Wait," I called out. "Can I go home and get my guitar? I want to have something my aunt gave me with me while I'm away." The brown clad skeleton nodded and changed the portal.
"PaperJam, Cora, come along. Would you, Nightmare and Dream like to come with, Raven?" She nodded silently in response to the question and I walked through the portal with her. Nightmare, Dream and PJ followed suit, along with the Creator and Blueberry. My heart continued to hurt but I continued to ignore it. Hopefully, it will stop soon.
