Later that night Layla had settled Benji in to bed and took a moment to rest. She thought about folding the small mountain of washing taking up half the sofa, but she was exhausted. Instead Layla turned on Netflix and decided to watch an episode of Arrow. She was halfway through the episode when her phone began to ring. Looking at the screen it read 'unknown number'

'I wonder if it's Jeffrey' she thought to herself, and suddenly she became a little nervous. 'Stay calm... it's just a phone call'.

"Layla speaking" she answered cheerfully.

"Hi Layla... it's Jeffrey" came his deep voice.

"Oh hi Jeffrey" she replied happily, trying not to give away how excited she was that he had called.

"I haven't got you at a bad time have I?" He asked.

"No, you're good".

"Great. How's Benji doing after his trip to the grocery store?"

Layla couldn't help but smile at how thoughtful he was. "He's doing good, thanks for asking. I think the trains did the trick... not to mention the chicken nuggets he got for dinner" she laughed.

"Who doesn't love chicken nuggets" Jeffrey chuckled. "So um... I was thinking if you're free one day this week, maybe we could get coffee?"

"I like the sound of that".

"What day works for you?"

"How about Tuesday morning?"

"Perfect. Do you want to meet somewhere? Will you bring Benji along?"

"If that's okay?"

"More than okay" he replied happily.

"There's a nice little coffee shop I go to sometimes that has a small fenced off playground that Benji loves. Would you like to meet us there?"

"That sounds great. Can you text me the address?"

"Sure".

"How was the rest of your day?"

"Pretty relaxed. How about you?"

"The same... Oh and I ran into the wicked witch of the west in the grocery store" he chuckled.

"Really?"

"Yeah... she actively tried to avoid me" Jeffrey laughed.

"I bet she did. I hope she was embarrassed at her actions".

"Well if she wasn't, she sure will be now".

"Why? Did you say something to her?"

"I very calmly told her that she has no right sticking her nose in to other people's business and telling someone how to be a parent. Especially when she knows absolutely nothing about those people or their situation. I said that she should think before she  opens her mouth with uninformed and outdated bullshit".

"Wow... you really said that?"

"Sure did".

"Thank you for sticking up for us".

"Oh I'm sure you would have handled that lady like a pro. But it was satisfying to give her what for" he laughed.

"Well I appreciate that you did".
