Lying in bed that night after some steamy hot sex, Layla was struggling to sleep. Like her son she often found it hard to switch off at the end of the day, a trait she wondered if she had passed on to him. Sometimes her brain just would not be quiet, all her worries and thoughts would spin around and round, her mind going a million miles an hour. She would toss and turn, struggling to get comfortable often resulting in very little sleep. And tonight was one of those nights.

Layla was trying so hard to lie still, she didn't want her usual tossing and turning to keep Jeffrey awake.

"Sweetheart?" He whispered in the darkness, his arm draped over her waist.

"Yeah?"

"What's on your mind?"

"How'd you know something is on my mind?"

"You're fidgeting with your hands. You often do it when you are nervous or worried" he told her.

"Well aren't you observant" she laughed.

"Yup... now spill. What's got you worried?"

"Are you busy tomorrow?"

"I got some work to do, but nothing urgent... why?" He asked.

"Can I ask you a favour?"

"Sure Sweetheart, anything".

"Tomorrow before kindergarten, I have to take Benji to get his vaccinations... and I know it's going to be an absolute shit storm and I'm really on edge about it" Layla explained.

"And you want me to come?"

"Please?"

"Of course Sweetheart. Whatever you need, whatever Benji needs. I'm here for you both".

"Thank you Jeff. That means so much to me. So far I've had to take him to get his vaccinations by myself. And each time he's a bit older and it is a lot harder. He hates going to the doctors office, he loses it before we even get in the door and I just don't know how to get through this. I hate doing it to him, but I know it's what's best for him".

"I know Sweetheart. Don't worry, I'll be right there and we can get through it together".

"Thank you Babe... you are so amazing" she smiled as she planted a sweet kiss to his chest just over his heart.

"Get some rest Beautiful. Don't you worry about a thing" he whispered reassuringly. Somehow Jeffrey had this magical way of making Layla feel like everything would be okay. When she lay in his arms at night, it was the safest she had ever felt, and for as long as she could remember she had never slept as well as she did when he was with her. She felt like the luckiest woman alive.

The following morning Layla and Jeffrey took Benji to the doctors. They had toys, books and train videos ready to distract him with, but despite their best efforts just getting him through the door was a huge drama and he completely lost it.

They had been waiting for five minutes and neither Layla or Jeff could get Benji to calm down and they had received a few disapproving looks.

"Jesus... some one shut that kid up" a young woman wearing far too much make up and far too little clothing muttered.

Layla shot her a glare as she tried her best to calm Benji. As much as she wanted to tell the woman to shut the fuck up, Benji was her priority.

"Excuse me!?" Jeff spoke up. "You got something to say?"

"Control your fucking kid man" she spat.

"How about you mind your own damn business!?" Jeff countered.
