Before Layla knew it, it was already Friday. Benji was spending the day at kindergarten, so she took the opportunity to catch up on the housework. Once she was finished she got some prep work done on dinner for that night, hopefully her recipes would impress Jeffrey.
It was around 5.30pm when she heard the telltale rumble of his motorcycle come to a stop in their driveway. Benji was busy playing with his trains on the floor while she got dinner started. The doorbell chimed and her heart started to race. What was it about this man that made her so nervous?
Layla opened the door to find Jeffrey standing before her with a beautiful bunch of flowers. He was dressed in a pair of black jeans and a black button up shirt with a jacket over top. The sight had her heart pounding even more.
"These are for you" he grinned as he held out the flowers.
"Jeffrey, they are beautiful. Thank you" she blushed as she took the flowers and admired them, taking in their gorgeous fragrance. "Please, come in. Make yourself at home" she said. "I'll just put these in a vase".
"Something smells good" he said as he inhaled deeply.
"My secret recipe. I hope you'll like it".
"Can't wait" he smiled. "I have something for Benji" he said holding up a paper bag. "Do you think he'd be better if you gave it to him or will he be okay with me?"
"You're so thoughtful and sweet" she smiled as she placed her hand on his chest and planted a soft kiss on his scruffy cheek. "I think he'll be fine with you. You might have a hard time getting his attention away from the trains though" she laughed.
"I like my chances" he grinned with a wink, showing off his sexy dimples.
"Hey Benji" he said as he got down on the floor with her son. "Remember me? I'm Jeff. I have something for you, you wanna see?" He asked as he held out the paper bag for him. Benji reached out and lifted the top of the bag and peered inside and his little face lit up. He looked at Jeff curiously. "Go on buddy, it's yours" he smiled as he placed it in Benji's hands. The boy's hands dove into the bag and he pulled out a large book.
"Steam trains!" He exclaimed.
"Wow Benji. How cool is that!?" Layla smiled as her son opened the book all about steam trains and began pointing to pictures that looked like characters from Thomas the Tank Engine as well as naming the parts of the trains.
"Safe to say he likes it" Jeffrey grinned happily.
"You are wonderful" Layla smiled, pecking his cheek once more. "Benji, can you say thank you to Jeffrey please?" She prompted.
"Bank you much Jeffwey" Benji smiled at him before quickly focusing his attention back to the book.
"You are very welcome Buddy" he smiled.
