"It's Lust's Turn To Speak"

Lust slithers to the mike
Eager for their turn
They reach the podium
A small cough
Resounds through the room
And with that
They begin
Looking to the crowd
And back to the podium again

I didn't bring a script
These things are better said
In the moment
I feel like we're suppressing
Well
Ourselves
Why not cut this act?
Why not own it?

A few looks were exchanged
Between emotions
Most in pairs of two
They whisper to themselves
Some even yelled
"We can't tell her how we feel!"
"That's suicide!"
"She'll reject us!"
"We all know how this ends!"
"We'll be heartbroken!"
"Yeah then we'll have to start
This whole cycle again!"

Now I know
You have your concerns
But we'll never live until
We tell her
How we feel
I know this is typical
Coming from me
But honestly guys
When is it lust's turn
To speak?

Their eyes fall on fear
You
They point
Fear shakes
But stands his ground

We've been together awhile
You and I
When you were scared
And didn't know what to do
I gave you a nudge
And we fought it together
Me and you
You didn't give up on me then
So I hope you won't now
For what I'm about to say
Is something we've all been
Thinking about

Everyone knew
They talked about it constantly
At work
In the field
And even
In the break room

There's this girl
And she's beautiful
In every way
I'm out of my comfort zone
This may not even be
My area of expertise
I don't know if you could tell
But fear can't do this
So I stepped up
To say what no one else can
This girl is the object of
Wait no
That sounds bad
This girl is the one
The one we think of
In restless sleep
The one we love
The one we imagine
Kissing
Touching
Holding close
Especially the kissing
I can't believe I'm saying this
But the kissing
We haven't even done that yet
And we want it so bad
To be her

We're in love
I mean lust
That's what I said
We're in lust with this girl
We can't get out of our head
That's a sign
I mean
Right?
Let's tell her how we really feel
Who's with me?
