Emma
I walked down the stairs to the downstairs in the dress I had just gotten and my hair was done. I wore the dress with a simple pair of black half-inch heels, I didn't like heels at all, but I was required to wear them. My hair was pulled to one side of my head and curled so it looked really cute with the dress. My makeup my mom did so I wouldn't mess up and I was carrying an electric blue handbag. "How do I look? Professional?" I asked.
"More than professional honey, you look absolutely gorgeous, and so grown up!" My mom said at the bottom of the stairs.
"Thanks," I smiled. "The clipboard is in the tree house, I need to go get it, I will be right out so we can leave." I half walked half jogged out to the tree house. It took me about two minutes to climb up into it, I bet it would have made a really funny video.
I sat in the bean bag half panting from pulling myself up. I saw something flashy out of the corner of my eye. It was the book I used to read all the time. I smiled and picked it up and thought again about meeting my knight, I thought I should just give up, it wasn't worth it anymore, and it was little kid stuff. I threw it out of the tree house window, hopefully so it would rain and never be seen again. I grabbed the clip board and jumped down from the tree house, trying as hard as I could not to mess my hair up or get a grass stain on my dress.
I walked through the house, grabbed the speech off of the table and ran outside to meet my mom in the car. "Are you ready for a really important night?" My mom asked me.
"As ready as I can be, isn't dad coming?" I asked.
"He will once he gets off of work, but he will make it in time for your speech, I heard that Alex is able to play in the game!"
"I know, I was so happy for him, I have a gut feeling that this is going to be the game!" I said. "I just know it.
We drove to the school and my mom pulled into the back of the school where they asked my mom to so we could meet up in the Teachers Staffing room. We walked into the building, everyone was starting to arrive and walk over to the football field. I started to get a little bit nervous, I didn't know how I was going to be able to talk in front of all these people. My mom walked right by my side and we walked into the Staffing room. Our principle came up to me. "Emma, look at you, absolutely gorgeous!" He said. "Are you ready for your big speech?"
"As ready as I can be!" I grinned.
"Well you have about an hour until you guys give the speech so we all are hanging out in here snacking on cookies and sipping punch, so feel free to help yourselves to anything!" He said. "You must be Emma's mom," He she shook my moms hand.
"Yes, it's nice to meet you," She smiled.
"And it is nice to meet the star pupil out of everyone at this school!" They chuckled and he walked away.
"I wonder where Alex is at," I said to my mom.
"Probably with the team," She said. One of the teachers must have heard us because she butted into our conversation.
"Alex isn't here yet," She said.
"Oh, where is he?" I asked, hoping that he would be here soon.
"I don't know, no one can get a hold of him, and he wasn't at his house when one of us went there to get him, so I really don't know, no one does, the nerves must have gotten the best of him..." She walked away. That was weird.
"He better show up," I said to my mom. She nodded her head grabbing for a cookie. I giggled.
About half an hour went by and Alex didn't show up and I started to get really nervous, there was no way I was going to give the speech by myself, neither was the team going to win without him. I turned to my mom in desperation. "What do I do?" I asked.
"If what?" She asked.
"If he doesn't show up," I said.
"Em, don't worry, he will show up, just give it time!" She said to me. "Just take a few deep breaths, it will all be just fine!" She could see me stressing out.
"I'm gonna go walk outside, see if he maybe is out there," I said. She nodded her head letting me go. I walked outside. It was starting to get pretty dark, I walked around the building to see in Alex was just showing up, nope. I decided to see if he was by the field. It was weird walking on the path by myself because I was the only one dressed really nice. There were swarms of people walking on it too because they wanted to get their seats.
I walked to where the locker room was, wondering if I should go inside, I decided that their coach was probably the best person to talk to. I walked in and luckily the boys weren't in there, they were all practicing on the field. Their coach was there though. "Uhmmm," I said. He turned around and looked at me.
"Hi, can I help you?" He asked. "You're Emma right?"
"Yeah, I was just wondering if you have seen Alex?" I asked him.
"Nope, haven't seen him, we are starting to get really worried, we don't know if he is going to show up," He said back to me, that was possibly the worst news that I could have heard at that moment.
"Okay, thank you for your help," I started to walk out. "Good luck in the game coach!" I walked out of the door and Sam and Tyler were coming into the locker room. They stopped in front of me and started to rapidly blink. "What?" I asked them.
"Is that really you Emma?" Tyler said.
"Yeah," I replied.
"You look, you do not look like yourself..." Sam said with his jaw to the floor.
"Well, I'm sorry?" I said.
"I mean, you look hot!" Sam said. I giggled.
"Thanks, but hey have any of you guys seen Alex?" I asked them, they both looked at each other.
"Why, is there something you need to say to him," They said in the most over-dramatic tone ever.
"You dirty-minded idiots!" I giggled. "But have you really, no one's seen him and we're all getting a little worried..."
"No we haven't seen him..." Sam said.
"Well, thanks anyways, see you guys around," I started to walk away. "Good luck in the game, you guys will do great!" I walked back up to the school and was about to walk inside when our principle walked up to me.
"Emma we have some bad news," He said.
"What?" I asked.
"We can't find Alex, and you go on in fifteen minutes, you might have to do it yourself..." He said.
"What do you mean we can't find Alex?"
"I mean he is absolutely no where to be found...."
