JOHN'S POV

MONDAY

I groaned as my alarm woke up me up at 6:30 in the morning. I didn't want to go back to school, but my dad would hurt me if I skipped.

I got dressed quickly and decided to take my motorcycle to school. The wind blew the tears off my face as I drove.

I walked in to school and immediately was face to face with Eliza.

"Oh, hi John. How was your winter break?" Her voice was strained, like she didn't want to talk to me but felt like she needed to be nice.

"Not great, to be honest..." I mumbled, then pushed past her and walked to my locker.

I realized Alexander was there, waiting for me at my locker. My heart jumped for joy. Maybe he wanted me back! But then Thomas walked up and wrapped his arm around Alex's waist, just like I used to do with him. Alex leaned in to his arm, just like he used to do with me. I was so angry, that I kicked a locker.

My foot hurt so bad it almost felt broken, even though I knew it wasn't. I hopped up and down on my non injured foot, swearing.

I could tell this was going to be a crappy day.

ALEXANDER'S POV

I stood at my locker, wanting to see John before class. Since we had lockers next to each other, I was hoping I could play it off as getting something out of my locker.

He walked up to his locker, and our eyes met for half a second, then we stopped looking awkwardly. I closed my locker and leaned against it, considering talking to John, telling him I missed him and I regretted my relationship with Jefferson, but before I could say anything, Jefferson walked up and wrapped his arm around my waist. I decided it was best that I walk away from John, plus Jefferson was good enough company for now.

"But not the company you want, Alex. Not the company that forces you to eat three meals a day because they're concerned about your health. Not the company that can barely bump your arm and make your heart flutter. Not the company--" Said the voice in my head, but I was able to ignore it when Jefferson started talking.

"We're getting new English projects today. It sucks that the second we're together, we get new partners." Said Jefferson.

"Yeah, hopefully I don't get... you know." I chuckled awkwardly. This was so unnatural, talking to Jefferson like we were a couple. I barely knew how to talk to him as friends, since we had sort of hated each other before... the other night.

Suddenly Jefferson lifted me up by my waist with both hands, bringing me up to his height. He had to lift me pretty far, he was even taller than John. God, now was not the time to think about John. I wrapped my legs around Jefferson and leaned in.

Our lips met and people stopped to stare. I realized no one knew Jefferson and I were dating yet. After a minute, Jefferson gently sat me back down. I smiled up at him and touched his soft, fluffy hair.

He leaned down to peck me on the cheek, but his legs suddenly flew out from under him. I turned and saw Laurens running down the hall.

That asshole.

LAURENS' POV

I don't know what had come over me. Seeing Jefferson there, kissing my--

No! He's not mine anymore. So why had I pushed Jefferson over?

"The answer is obvious." Said the little voice in my head. "You still love him. You need to stop asking dumb questions. Instead of pushing over Jefferson, which is going to make Alexander even angrier at you, you should do something nice for Alex."
