Dance-Off

Faye:

We're in the dance-off.

As soon as Tess said these words, I feel like wanting to cry. That makes it obvious that the public doesn't like me. It's definitely not Giovanni's fault because he's an outstanding dancer and surely has the sympathy on his side; it's me who's ruining it. I feel so sorry for him, he created such an outstanding dance and once again I messed up.

The public doesn't like the ringers and that's what I am. And as I take a look at the judges, I think about the fact that they could just eliminate us if they want to. Because if Kate shows more of an improvement than we do, the judges will probably decide for her. Of course I would be happy for her, we get along fairly well and she has talent - but I want to continue dancing with Giovanni. I want to keep spending time with him.

"Faye and Giovanni, come and join me for a talk." Tess says with a sad voice. "What's your strategy for this dance-off?" she asks.

Not to cry and mess up. "We just try to improve our dance." I reply her quietly, as Giovanni takes my hands tightly. "And of course we want to impress the judges, we want to let them now that we can improve our dancing skills."

"Well, please take your place to perform your Paso Doble for our judges. Let's applaud for this beautiful dance couple: Faye and Giovanni!"

I'm probably looking a bit sad as we enter the dancefloor. The music starts to play and we simply dance our Paso, enjoying this beautiful dance together; having fun with our backing dancers and as a dance couple. It's indeed true that our partnership is something special, we are truly like a perfect match. While we dance, the smile appears on my face again upon looking at Giovanni. He simply is so cute, the way he's looking at me with his own beautiful smile. I enjoy this journey at Strictly so much. 

And I love him, yes - I definitely am in love with him! Maybe that's why my smile increases even more as we look at each other; getting into the end position. He briefly kisses my forehead before we simply hug tightly. I would love to kiss him back - on the lips - but that would probably confuse not only him but also the audience. So I simply enjoy the hug that we exchange. 

However as we politely take our place to wait for the results, my eyes are teary as I think about our possible elimination. So I don't even watch the dance that Kate is performing at all; instead I look up to the ceiling. Giovanni puts his arms around me meanwhile, trying to make me smile again. "I'm so proud of you." he whispers. "You were dancing at your best and you're looking so beautiful. You're simply gorgeous."

This indeed makes me smile and I whisper a 'Thank you' to him as we watch Kate finishing her performance. And when the judges are about to tell us their decision about which dance couple they want to see in the next show, Giovanni simply takes my hand, even if he looks just as nervous as I probably do.

"The judges will now tell us which couple they would like to see in the next show." Tess announces and I look at Giovanni through my tears. "Craig, would you please tell us how you decide?" Tess asks.

"Well, for me the couple I decided for had already been amazing before performing in the dance-off. But now in the dance-off, they were performing their dance even a bit more exquisite. So my decision is Faye and Giovanni." he explains. Normally I would be happy to hear things like that from Craig - he's a brilliant performer and hearing these words feels like such an honor - but now I'm just upset.

"Darcey, which couple do you want to see in the next show?"

"I would like to say, that both couples showed improvement to me. But I would like to decide for Faye and Giovanni, as their dance was definitely outstanding." she answers.
