I and Israel, still in awe at what I'd done, began our descent to the ground to regroup with the guys. On our way down he would not stop questioning me as to how I did what I did.
"For the ninth time Israel, I don't know." I groaned. "I just know whatever I did worked and that we have to get the others and get out of here before-"
"I'm free?" We came to a screeching halt in the midst of the sky as his devilishly handsome body materialized out of ice before us, the chill of which coated us in a frosty draft. "I don't know how Alex knew that that witch was the source of the Demon's power, but I owe her my life. The least I can do is kill you and steal your soul – that way my master and Alex will be satisfied. Now, I will give you this one chance." He paused to stretch. "Surrender and all your friends live ... you will die a martyr." He jested, amused by the thought of my death. "What'd you say?" He questioned.
"Where is Dana?" I demanded, ignoring his comments of intimidation. My eyes slid to the right to meet Israel's and instantly he vanished.
"She's falling to her death in the abyss her alter ego created. You figured it out before I said it hence why your beautiful brother has vanished." The lines of his mask stretched, evidently meaning he was smiling beneath. "You're smarter than you look. I will enjoy ripping your soul from your body." The magic from the unsealing had yet to wear off and I had every intention of using it to defend myself and my friends from this monster.
He sprouts his black wings that glisten like black diamonds in the night and charged towards me. I stood unmoved in the air, ready to withstand and counter his incoming blow. He wasn't far from me ....
"RISEN OAK!" What the-?
Unexpectedly, a massive oak tree emerged from the earth below us and shot up betwixt us endlessly sprouting upward. It stretched and stretched, with the intention to reach the moon. On my side of the oak tree, which was so massive that it completely blocked the man from my field of vision, a branch outstretched.
The branches of the heavenly tree rose towards the gloomy skies, cutting through the darkness with every inch it grew. It's extremely wide and study bark strangely glistened in the moonlight as it commanded authority around us. There's a giant flash of lightning that forces me to shield my eyes. When they opened, I was taken aback by what was before me. It was Jana, in what appears to be her half fox form.
She now has a thick mane of waist-length, silver-white hair, red eyes with slit-like pupils, on each digit, and sharp medium length in her mouth. Her ears are furry and pointed like those of a fox. Her clothes are ripped to shreds, barely covering her body yet oddly revealing nothing. A long white slick tail stretched from out her hindquarters, wrapping around her body like a warm fleece coat. "Daniel." She said my name so sweetly, I all but forgot I was in mortal danger. "We have to go."
"He won't stop until I'm dead!" I countered. "I have to try to stop him; here and now." I amended. "I have to protect you guys." I continued.
"Daniel!" She growled likened unto a fox. "We cannot beat him, so let's just go. Israel has Dana, and he's floating up now. Zachary has all control over the terrain, so we can get away." I don't know where these random ideas are coming from, but none of them has steered me wrong thus far.
"You're right."
"Good." She rejoiced. "Let's-"
"No." I corrected. "You're right about us being able to get away, but your plan will get us killed. I can't explain but I saw a vision just a second ago of our collective deaths. It was grim, to say the least." I shivered. "I have an idea that will save all of us but we have to work together." The thunder echoed in the background installing an ominous vibe behind my words. She smiled at me and digressed in her heart.
