Beyonce has dropped a years-old trademark lawsuit targeting a Texas company for selling engagement-centric apparel under the name "Feyonce." A New York federal judge dismissed the case at the singer's request, according to court records filed on Wednesday.
The superstar cirst complained of items in early 2015, saying the pun would cause confusion with her fans. One of the standout Feyonce items was a mug that included the phrase "he put a ring on it" -- a nod to Beyonce's 2008 hit, "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)." A lawsuit alleging her trademark rights had been infringed upon was filed a year later.
According to Reuters and Law 360, a federal judge in October rejected Beyonce's request for a permanent injunction to stop the sale of the items, telling both sides to discuss trial dates or find a path to settle the case. In December, Beyonce asked the court to dismiss the case, though it is unclear what the two parties reached a settlement.
Meanwhile, numerous sellers continue to manufacture and sell "Feyonce"-emblazoned items on the popular Etsy website. Also available: "BAE-Z" t-shirts.
