At the Heartview Global Charity Gala held at Skirbal Cultural Center in Los Angeles on Thursday, R&B divas Mariah Carey and Beyonce Knowles Carter posed for a pic together. TMZ relays that the two musical powerhouses have been in talks since to collaborate and put together a duet that can showcase the exceptional talent each star possesses
Thirty-four-year-old Beyonce and 45-year-old Mariah have both made their mark on the music industry as being sensational singers with the fierce attitude to match, which has earned both stars the diva reputation. It's therefore only fitting that the beauties meld their voices on a track to pay tribute to their combined success.
Those successes include an incredible 20 Grammy wins for Mariah and an impressive five for Bey. The "Formation" singer demonstrated recently that she'll stand firm against Mariah when she feels it necessary, as Beyonce ignited a bit of a bidding over a Ray Charles portrait during the aforementioned charity auction. Both singers ended up victorious in the end, as a source relayed to TMZ.
"After throwing down thousands, the artist agreed to give them both a copy."
Mariah and Beyonce have more than a fierce attitude and talent in common. They also share the same business manager, Jon Schwartz, who likely has suggested the collaboration between his two superstar clients.
The two divas have not performed together since 2008 when they were also joined by Mary J. Blige onstage at the Fashion Rocks- Stand Up To Breast Cancer event. The Daily Mail shared additional moments that Mariah and Beyonce have been in one another's company.
"The glamorous millionaires also served as muses for designer Donatella Versace at her Versus SS/04 runway show in Milan back in 2003. And Mariah has posed pictures in the past of herself with the Formation hitmaker on special occasions like New Year's Eve."
Although nothing has been formally agreed upon with regard to the duet between Mariah and Bey, it would definitely be a sweet sound to hear the two ladies on the same track.
Individually, the two stars have been continuing on with their success in the industry just like would be expected of Mimi and Queen Bey. Mariah has continued on with her Vegas residency and has become newly-engaged to billionaire beau James Packer, while Beyonce has recently had massive success with her release of her latest single "Formation" and announced her Formation world tour.
However, Bey has been surrounded by controversy since performing at the Super Bowl halftime show, during which she was accompanied by backup dancers who some say resembled Black Panthers due to the ensemble the dancers were outfitted in. Fox News recently reported about the ongoing backlash.
"Five days after Beyoncé's Super Bowl half-time show in which dancers were clad in Black Panther inspired costumes and one dancer held up a 'Justice 4 Mario Woods' sign, the controversy continues to grow. There's an anti-Beyoncé protest rally in front of the NFL headquarters planned for Feb. 16,"
Additionally, Beyonce took heat for appearing in Coldplay's latest music video, in which the singer is presented in traditional Indian attire. The video received backlash due to the band's use of Indian traditions and cliches throughout the video. CNN shares people's negative response to the video for the catchy song "Hymn for the Weekend."
"Some say the video is nothing more than an amalgamation of clichés about the country, from a peacock to temples to a fire eater, holy men and dancing girls. The frustration is evident on social media."
