"I need it to kill you both."
Within seconds, she lunged over the couch and into us, thrusting the knife towards us. Hide and I fell onto the ground, scrambling to get up.
Neither of us had been struck by the knife, but she was on top of me and took her best swing at me. Her small fist slammed into my face, pushing my head to one side, then back as she hit me again.
She reached for the knife and held it high above my chest.
She was off of me, Hide swung at her with the lamp on the table. It broke over her head and he helped me stand up. My heart was racing.
We had just began the fight for our lives.
She screamed, swinging her arms back around towards Hide, trying to hit him. He ran off towards the door, taking his best swing at it.
It was locked shut, not with a regular lock, but with a key lock. He couldn't open it, no matter how hard he tried. Hide slammed his body towards the door as his mother came at me with the knife.
I pushed her, holding her far enough away from me that she wouldn't stab me. She got close, lunging the knife forwards into the edge of my stomach, then out, then back into my skin.
I winced, pushing harder and throwing her into the wall.
It wasn't enough to stop her, she took a second then ran after me again.
I needed some kind of protection, something that would knock her down long enough for me to help Hide. Taking only a second to glance around the room, I grabbed the legs of the small table by the side of the couch and held my ground as she ran towards me. At the last second, I lifted it in front of me and she slammed into it.
This knocked me over, but she fell back as well.
Immediately I stood up, running away from her and towards the door. Hide stepped back a little and ran into the door with me. We screamed and yelled as we hit the door.
"Hide," He looked at me,
"The windows!" I said, as his mother rubbed her head and looked around, dazed from the fall. We ran towards the kitchen, trying our best to open the biggest window in the house.
Hide didn't take his time to hit the window, no, he took a pan from the cabinet instead and slammed it towards the glass. The glass didn't budge, Hide only put a scratch on it from the pan. He kept slamming it into the glass, screaming at it "Break damnit, break!"
I leaned back, toom a running start, throwing my whole body into the window. I hoped to fall on the ground, feel the cool air through my hair and feel the water droplets from last night's rain on todays new grass against my cheek. No.
My body bounced off the window, throwing me backwards into a stumble. Hide looked at me, then to his mother. She was gone, disappeared into nothingness. Hide instantly stopped hitting the window, dropping the pan to the floor.
We looked around, then back at each other.
"(mothers name)"
She didn't respond.
"Mom?" He asked, taking a step towards the hallway.
If I were her, the hall would be a great place to hide. Ready to swing at any given moment, hiding at the edge of the wall. The bedrooms were down there as well, she could go in one and wait to give the kill shot. The basement door was at the end of the hallway, I had no idea what weapons she could have stored in there. I doubt Hide knew either, and both of us didn't intend to find out.
