Remember Me (Kurapika X Reader)

Part Thirteen

You look across for the cafeteria table happily at Kurapika munching on some toast. You can't help but feel overjoyed over the fact that he actually slept for a little bit last night, as well. A little bit is better than nothing.

"Oi, there you two are!" Leorio calls from across the cafeteria. A sly smile makes it's way onto his face as he sees Kurapika is actually taking care of himself for once.

"Hey Leorio!" You call back to him happily.

Gon runs in from behind him, and jumps onto the seat next to you. "(Y/N)!" He exclaims happily, "You finally got Kurapika to eat!"

You smile back at him, "Yeah! And sleep!"

"Wow!!" Gon says in awe, "You're really amazing, (Y/N)!"

Your face flushes at this, "Thanks, Gon."

Leorio takes a seat next to Kurapika, and gives him a smug look, "Good to see you're finally eating, buddy!"

Kurapika gives him a slight side-eye, but lets it go, "Yes, it was all thanks to (Y/N)."

"Hey, Gon," Leorio starts, grabbing his attention, "Where's Killua and his sister?"

"Oh right!" Gon says as he remembers what Killua told him earlier, "He said he was going to come in a little late today. He wanted to show Alluka around the city."

"That's sweet of him," You say, and then take a drink of your orange juice.

Kurapika nods, as he finishes his breakfast, "Do you still want to try walking again today, (Y/N)?"

You smile, and answer quickly, "Of course! I want to try everyday!"

"That's the spirit!" Leorio exclaims with a thumbs up.

Gon gives you a thumbs up as well, "We'll all cheer you on!"

A little bit later you find yourself in the physical therapy lounge, standing in a familiar place. Both of your hands grip both sides of the walking bars harshly. All of your friends stand at the end of them, while Nova has a gentle hand on your back as she encourages you to take your time.

"Don't worry, (Y/N)," Nova says sweetly, "There's no rush. You can take your time. We are all here to support you through this."

You nod, and clench your teeth as you go to pick up your left foot, and set it back down. That's one step down. Next, you're right foot. Two steps. You shakily take your third step, and then a fourth, but once you're almost half-way through the walking bars, your legs finally give out, and you catch yourself on the metal bars on each side of you.

"(Y/N)! You did so well!" Kurapika exclaims, as he runs over to stand beside you.

"That was amazing!!" Gon cheers with a giant smile on his face, "You almost made it all the way!!"

Leorio gives you a beaming smile as well, "That's right! You'll be able to walk in no time!"

"I didn't even make it half-way though.." You point out, feeling a little down that you didn't make it farther.

"That's still such good progress, (Y/N)," Nova points out as her and Kurapika help you to sit back in your wheelchair, "You should be proud."

"Exactly," Kurapika adds to this, "You're making such good progress everyday (Y/N). You really are amazing."

Your face flushes red at this, and you look away from him, "Thank you, Kurapika."

"Oi, I feel like we missed something important." Killua says as he and Alluka enter the lounge hand-in-hand.
