foreign feeling

Jaehyun and I got to look at each other for only about a second before he grabbed my hand and started running out of the park.

What the fuck is going on?

The loud sounds didn't stop, if anything they got closer to us. My instincts made me run as fast as I could, not wanting to look back in fear of what could possibly happen. It was cold and dark outside, the constant gunshots roaming through the silent night.

It felt as if we were running in slow motion. Hundreds of questions went through my mind while running away from whatever person or gang that most likely wanted to find someone in this right exact moment, most likely me.

I didn't know where we were running, we just ran. Ran away from those terrifying sounds.

I executed a scream as I suddenly managed to twist my ankle and fall down right after rounding  a corner on a building, my chin hitting the cold and dirty pavement. I tried to stand up, to run away again, but a pair of arms lifted me up from the ground before I could say anything at all. I didn't question him, just letting him carry me.

My head hurt, I felt dizzy. Baekhyun's frantic voice haunted me, how did he know those gunshots would be fired? I had so many questions, which truly did not help the still growing head ache. Jaehyun ran into a narrow alleyway, hiding behind a couple of dumpsters. He carefully put me down as he signed for me to stay silent. As if I was dumb enough to think that screaming would be a good choice to do now.

The sounds became clearer, even closer. Footsteps could easily be heard as well. I closed my eyes, my breath hitching. Tears started to form, but I blinked them away refusing to be that weak. Jaehyun moved closer to me, making sure that they couldn't see us. He put his arm around me, pulling me closer as well.

My body turned even colder, I squeezed my eyes shut hoping this would all be gone when I opened them again. That wish did not get fulfilled. My body was clearly shaking, the man holding me in his arms noticed. My voice trembled as I whispered a small 'i'm fine', making sure only he could hear it.

The night was suddenly silent, the only thing heard was our heavy breaths. I started getting nervous when I actually felt how close Jaehyun was. Heat rushed up to my cheeks, but the darkness hid it well.

Jaehyun was the first to stand up again, slowly. Making sure we were free to go, he motioned for me to get up as well. My ankle still hurt badly, the smaller injuries too. We just stood there for a couple of seconds, trying to hear any sounds that could indicate someone was still there. Neither of us heard anything but our breaths and some crows in the distance. He picked me up again, but I reclined his unspoken offer. I felt guilty making him carry me, especially for so long. He must be tired.

We started walking slowly down the street, everything was still very quiet, no signs of danger. Thus until I heard commotion from behind of us. A scream made my eyes widen, it came from Jaehyun and I's hiding spot. We looked at each other before speeding, my right hand suddenly in his. I almost tripped yet again due to my most likely sprained ankle. I tried keeping his pace, but it was definitely not just a piece of cake.

I looked over my shoulder; not a smart move. It only slowed us down for a second, but it was one second too much. The tall men noticed us, they were all dressed in black, their muscles clearly visible from under the probably too thin material. It made them seem even scarier, intimidating.

One of them called for the others, yelling something about us escaping. Jaehyun yanked my arm, dragging me around a corner I didn't even see. We sped past buildings, me slowing down for every single step because of the unbearable pain from my ankle. The adrenaline was still pumping through my body though. My breath was utterly uneasy, my body had no energy left. The little adrenaline didn't help me anymore.
