paper cuts

The wound that was created on his shoulder soon turned into a fountain of red liquid running down the rest of his body and ended in a pond of blood underneath him on the floor. His shocked face mirrored mine, and I almost didn't manage to get my feet to move.

fuck, I just stabbed a guy

But even though I had managed to save myself a head start by hurting him, I knew that he would soon get back to his senses and somehow come after me. So I had to shake the thoughts away from my head, and run like my life depended on it - which it really did.

I had to leave.

I started running up the stairs that lead down to this frightening cellar that I've been stuck for who knows how long, and followed the hallway I had been walking in together with Namjoon. The four doors that came to my sight all looked the same, covered in a light shade of grey in contrast to the very dark walls. The hallway held only two sources of light, a small ceiling lamp with extremely bad lighting at each end of the corridor. I could recognize the door on the right that led to the bathroom, and I immediately crossed that option off my list, since the bathroom didn't have any possible escape routes from my earlier observations.

There were three doors left. I took a quick decision based on my gut feeling and went for the door that stood right across from where I was standing. The feelings of stress and anxiousness suddenly spread through my mind even more than before when I put my hand on the rusty door handle that most possibly could lead to either my worst or best decision ever. I pressed my left hand down on the object, and in my next move, I opened the door a tiny bit just to hear if there were anyone in the room. Because of the little opening, I could only see a bookshelf in the far corner and a window beside it, which could possibly be my only escape option.

I was about to enter the room since I hadn't heard any sounds yet, but my body instantly froze when I could hear someone murmur. I stood still for a few seconds, unable to do anything but listening to the conversation that was happening on the other side of the door while praying that whoever was in the room didn't see me. My muscles wouldn't move until I heard someone shout:

"The girl is there, get her for fuck's sake!"

Now my head was completely filled with stress, and my body was moving solely on its own. I could hear heavy footsteps running over the cold wooden floor. I turned my body around and went into the door the closest to me, not even thinking about the consequences of my decision. Fortunately, I couldn't see anyone in the big room that I managed to get myself into. From the little time I got to see my new surroundings, it looked like some sort of a luxurious office, compared to the rest of the non-modern cabin. I could see more bookshelves on each side of the room, and in the center stood a desk and two chairs. Different documents were scattered around the table, but I didn't even think of looking through them.

Instead of looking at the documents, my eyes landed directly on a window at the wall on the other side of me, and from my view, I could only see white outside of it. My feet began to run again, faster and faster. It was the first time in a while, I could see the outside, and little did I know I was trapped up in a cabin far up and inside the mountaintops that looked like small sugarcubes located all around.

I opened the window in a blink of an eye, built up the strength, and jumped out, not even caring about how far up I probably was. Luckily, it wasn't that far down and I landed safe and sound in the soft snow under me. I just started to run, not knowing where to go, but I knew they would find me if I kept running. I was leaving obvious traces in the snow, I knew I would be helpless if I kept on going like this.

I ran at the other side of the big cabin and saw something that seemed like the only way out, a snowmobile. My feet kept on carrying me over the heavy snow that was fighting its own fight against my cold skin, but I wouldn't give up now.

For one brief moment, my eyes wandered down to see that the keys were already in the vehicle. This was a win for me. My eyes shifted back to the snowmobile, and as I got closer, I threw myself over it in the matter of a few seconds.

My hands placed itself on each side, and I started it up. Never had I ever driven one of these ones before, but it didn't stop me. I was now leaving the hellhole at a pace that was on a whole another level from my earlier, not-so-fast running.

I tried my best to drive in a straight line through the storm of snowflakes that were dancing around in the air surrounding me, but I couldn't see much more than the bad weather. Until I suddenly got to see and end to the snow lane I was driving on, the ground suddenly came to a stop right in front of me.

I didn't get to turn the vehicle before it all suddenly went down.

I could now suddenly see a whole lot more, except for the fact that I was driving at an extremely high speed down a mountain wall. Due to my adrenaline rush, I hadn't really thought about my clothes. I was still wearing some shitty, thin clothes that Juwon gave me. Fortunately, I brought my jacket from when I was kidnapped, and I was still wearing my shoes, pretty worn out, but better than nothing.

I could see that it was a very tall mountain that I was driving down, but I could see that far in the distance, there were trees, and maybe that was my way to get help. People could possibly live down there. I just had to keep fighting against the coldness of the winter.

I tried shielding out all the snowflakes that felt like paper cuts against my eyes while looking around so I would not crash. I was getting closer to the ocean of trees at the end of the mountain hill. My pulse was getting more intense as I got closer. As the trees got closer, I came to realize that I really did not know how to drive this god damn thing. Stress filled up in my whole body, and my intake of breath became deeper as well.

My hands started shaking and the trees got closer and closer by every second. My eyes were searching desperately for easy entry, but the barricade of trees made it difficult. I tried balancing the feeling of the freezing breeze against my skin, the snowflakes sting who worked like a mask around my eyes and the urging feeling to jump off the moving vehicle.

"Stop right now!"

A loud voice pierced through the snowy air, and I was about to turn around to see who it was before I suddenly heard a loud bang and it all went black.
