To All The Men That Would Be

Tragic and compelling, thinking about all the men that would be.
I can't help but wonder what they thought
Did they ponder all the things that could be
Had they lasted one more day, another moment
Would they have fought to stay
Or were they purely stuck on all the things that should be

I can't imagine, make sense,
Hit by intense feelings, as the sorrowful reflect, perplexed,
What is it they thought was coming next
Left behind, unable to understand what's so complex

Would it change things? It might not matter, we'll never know
And to those that were lost, not by their own hands but by another
I'm sorry for the way you had to go
A different kind of sadness, a pain seen by loved ones as their tears flow

It's hard to fight it and avoid the question, why?
Feeling miserable at the loss, seeing many cry
Devastated for those that struggle to move on, even when they try
The longing thoughts that linger, grow stronger when time passes by.

There's nothing more to say, my words are plain to see
If only there was closure, some sort of remedy
Gone but not forgotten, as it should be
A simple dedication and goodbye
To all the men that would be
