This was requested by someone a long, long time ago, and I forgot who it was. All I know is they're named Rose.

————————

The early morning awakened with bright rays of light shining through the iridescent drapes and into my bedchamber. As my eyes slowly fluttered open, I felt a sense of impending joy rise within me. I would be able to watch Haldir train—other elves would be there, of course, but Haldir would be my focal point.

A slow smile spread across my face as I thought of my beloved Haldir—not my beloved, but I enjoyed imagining him in that way.

Haldir was a marchwarden. He fought to protect Lothlórien from invaders such as orcs, spiders, trolls, and any other evil creature of nightmares. He also protected Lórien in times of war and need.

I digress.

After much consideration, I rose from my bed and got ready to watch Haldir train.

I made for the training grounds, immediately catching a glimpse of Haldir, who was inspecting his weapons. I looked around to find a seat. Many elleths had already arrived to watch the ellons train. Haldir was very popular with the elleths. He had not yet found his One-- yes, elves have Ones--, which made the elleths desperate for his attention. Although I, too, found Haldir attractive, my behaviour toward him was less, dare I say, crazy.

Many elleths would go through entire beauty regimens early in the morning, ending it with the simple drowning of themselves into floral-scented oils. The elleths were often found flirting, winking, and doing anything they could to catch his attention.

He paid them no heed.

Haldir was the type of ellon to ignore the constant flow of beautiful—and not so beautiful —elleths, who would throw themselves into his path of footing. He never made eye contact with any parts of them other than their eyes.

Sometimes, he would act as if they didn't exist.

Once again, I digress.

The elleths chirped and cooed to each other, commenting constantly on the appearance of Haldir and a few other of the ellons. I remained quiet, silently watching as Haldir ordered a line of ellons to ready their bows.

He did the same, closing an eye in concentration. Finally, he released the arrow in sync with the others. Smoothly, the arrow whizzed through the air, hitting directly in the centre of the target.

I sighed in relief. I grinned widely, clapping for Haldir's victory. Then, he made a move completely uncharacteristic of him. Haldir turned to the crowd of cheering elleths and winked.

From the comfort of my home, I could hear the soft footsteps of an elf leading up to my door, followed by the gentle rap of a fist.

A little confused as to why anyone would visit me this late in the day, I cautiously moved to the door. The visitor knocked again, only it sounded more urgent. Still cautious, I slowly opened the door, surprised to see my visitor.

Haldir appeared to be in a hurry as he bounced on the heels of his feet. Regarding him with a smile, I opened my door wider.

"Mae govannen, Haldir. How may I be of service to you?" I asked. Haldir cleared his throat before speaking.

"Mae govannen. Lady Galadriel requires your assistance. She has asked me to escort you to her immediately," Haldir said. Seeing as his arrival was due to an important matter, I set my feelings aside and allowed him to escort me.
