While back in Geirland Even was in a bad mood when King Calder entered the great hall. Almost everyone was at the great hall waiting for Even's explanation for his failure. "You had no success this time brother," King Calder said as he sat on his throne. "What happened Even," King Calder continued with confusion in his voice. "We were attacked at camp before we could raid a village," Even said. "They must have been scouting the area since we raided the first time. Now they are going to be protective of their kingdom. I've got most of our men out before we all died," Even continued. "You did a good Even," King Calder said. "You put the people of Geirland first," Queen Gull said. "That's what kind of commander I need for my army," King Calder said. "So that's why i'm making you commandor," King Calder continued with a smile. "Thank you brother," Even said.

"Come with me brother," King Calder said as he stood up from his throne. "I need to speak with you privately," King Calder continued. A few minutes later the great hall was empty. Queen Gull was in the bedroom and the other continued with their lives. "What do you want brother," Even asked. "I need you to go back to Akehold," King Calder replied. "We need to weaken their defenses before we can conquer Akehold. If you go back to Akehold and win a battle i'll make you the true commander of my army," King Calder continued. "With God's help I can do this brother," Even said. "Good, now go get the boats ready and I'll have your men ready," King Calder said. "Yes brother," Even said as he walked out of the great hall. A few minutes later Queen Gull came back into the great hall. "What are you planning my husband," Queen Gull asked as she walked up to him. "My brother's failure and my success as king," King Calder replied as he looked at her.

Three hours later King Calder gave his brother an army of eighty men and four boats. His brother Even and his people started to doubt King Calder's intentions. Even started to doubt his brother's trust in him. "What are you doing brother," Even whispered. "This army is not big enough to raid Akehold now. They know we're after them. And they will harden their defences," Even continued. "If you want to be commander of my army then follow my orders," King Calder whispered. "You will leave in two days," King Calder continued as he walked away. "What was all that about," Queen Gull asked. "The beginning of the end of the people's love for my brother," King Calder replied. Two days later Even and men took a different route to Akehold to avoid being seen by the farmers. As the boats row to shore one of Hertha's scouts spotted the boats.

She rode to Asbjorn Island and arrived by nightfall. Hertha was with Olin in the great hall when the scout arrived. The scout whispersred her news into Hertha's ear. "I need to tell my father," Hertha said. "Even may be back for more," Hertha continued as she entered the bedroom. "What is it my child," King Hjalmar asked as he looked at Hertha. "Raiders are on our lands again," Hertha replied. "It may be Even and his men again. I'm not sure," Hertha continued. "He's back to lose again," King Hjalmar said with laughter. "Ok, i'm letting you come up with a plan to defeat him," King Hjalmar continued. "I will not fail you father," Hertha said as she walked away. Eight hours later Hertha, Stigr, Olin, and two hundred warriors set up camp outside a village called Dagmar. Hertha, Stigr, and Olin were coming up with a plan in her tent. Servants brought rabbit stew and deer. "If Even and his men took a different route then he would raid Dagmar," Hertha said as she ate her bowl of rabbit stew. "What should we do," Stigr asked as he ate his bowl of rabbit stew.

"We should do what we did in the last village," Hertha replied as she drank her cup of beer. "Move out the villagers but this time we do not hide," Hertha continued. "I'll move out the villagers," Stigr said. "No i'll go brother," Hertha said. "You scout their camp and see what we're up against," Hertha continued as she ate her bowl of rabbit stew. A few hours later Hertha and Stigr left camp with a few warriors behind them. Five minutes later Hertha arrived to Dagmar. She told them to leave the village as soon as possible so she could destroy their enemies. The next morning Hertha, Stigr, Olin, and all hundred warriors arrived at Dagmar before Even and his men. Twenty minutes later Even and his men arrived at Dagmar as Hertha and her warriors got in position. Even's face was filled with disappointment in himself and his heart was with anger for his brother.

Even and his men rushed towards Hertha and her warriors as he unsheathed his sword. "Shield wall," Hertha screamed as she unsheathed her sword. Every warrior raised their shields just before Even and his men could enter. Hertha, Stigr, and a few other warriors snuck around the shield wall to attack Even and his men. Hertha killed eight of Even's men with her sword by stabbing them in the throat or in the chest. Stiger killed ten of Even's men with his axe by chopping off their heads or slashing open their chest. Even killed the other warriors that rushed towards him. While the shield wall broke Even's men went through. Olin and the rest of the warriors killed nine of Even's men. When Even turned around he saw nothing but death. "We need to leave Even," One of his men screamed as he grabbed Even. "Retreat now," Even screamed as he sheathed his sword. Six more of his men died before the rest retreated.

"Are we really going to let him get away again," Stigr asked as he sheathed his axe. "Yes, this is the last time he leaves here alive," Hertha replied as she sheathed her sword. "If he comes back i'll kill him myself," Hertha continued as she looked at Stigr with a vicious smile. "That's good to hear," Stigr said with laughter. Three hours later Hertha, Stigr, Olin, and the other warrior went back to their camp. They drank and celebrated their victory against Even and his men. While back in Geirland Queen Gull had some news for King Calder. She walked into the great hall as King Calder was taking a seat in his throne. "Husband I have something to tell you," Queen Gull said as she sat on her throne. "What is it my love," King Calder asked as he looked at her. "I'm with child," Queen Gull replied as she put her hand over her stomach.

"Are you sure Gull," King Calder asked as his voice was filled with excitement. "Yes my love," Queen Gull replied with a huge smile on her face. "I haven't bled for three weeks," Queen Gull continued. "This is good news," King Calder said as he stood up. "We must celebrate," King Calder continued as he hugged her. A few hours back in Asbjorn Island Queen Kari walked up to King Hjalmar as he sat down on his throne. "I need to talk to you about something," Queen Kari said as she sat down on her throne. "What is it," King Hjalmar asked as he looked at her. "We need to talk about the farmer boy Felman Hérou," Queen Kari replied. "He's been here for a while and yet he does nothing but sit around. He doesn't even play with the other kids," Queen Kari continued as she looked at him. "What do you want me to do about it," King Hjalmar asked. "Let him stay here and work for us," Queen Kari replied. "If he works then he can distract himself from his mind," Queen Kari continued.
