"That is a lie and you know it," King Calder said as his face turned red from anger. "I love my brother because he is my family and my only brother. I would do anything to protect my family. My wife Queen Gull is with child now so I have to protect my new family. I don't want my child to live in a world full of snakes and traitors. What kind of father would I be if I can't defend my kingdom and our home," King Calder continued as he looked at Queen Gull then back at his people. "How do we know if it's true," The man asked. "We don't if it's true but we have to be prepared for an attack," King Calder replied as he walked up to the men. "I've already sent word to our allies. They should be here in a few days. That's all I have to say for the night. All of you may take your leave," King Calder continued as he sat back down on his throne.
Seven minutes later everyone left the great hall except King Calder and Queen Gull. "I don't like it when my people question my authority," King Calder said. "That man needs to be taught a lesson," King Calder continued as he looked at her. "How are you going to teach him a lesson my love," Queen Gull asked. "I don't know yet but i'll figure it out soon," King Calder replied as he got up and went to their bedroom. Two days later he arrived in Geirland in waves. They were kings and jarls that were allies to King Calder here to help raise an army. A few minutes later they arrived to Gosta and started at them some with hope, others looked at them with worry that they'll make things worse for their homeland. As they entered the great hall King Calder gave them a warm welcome. "I heard you need an army," One of the kings asked with a smile on his face. "Yes I do my old friend," King Calder replied as he gave him. "You do realize that you are to own me a favor again if we win this war for you," The king whispered. "Yes I do," King Calder replied.
"Good, now let's feast," The king said as his smile grew bigger on his face. "I had a long journey getting here and i'm starving," The king continued. "Come on then my old friend," King Calder said as he let him go. "Let the feast begin," King Calder continued as he led them to a table. Eleven minutes later six servants brought out food and drinks for everyone in the great hall. They served lamb, smoked fish, chicken, bread, and nettle soup to eat. They also served jugs of water, beer, and ale to drink. Everyone filled their plates and cups as the servants finished serving. The man who spoke up against King Calder was there too. People called him Kory Yngouf. Kory was the age of thirty six. He had short brown curly hair with a short mustache He was one of the blacksmith in Gosta. One of his most trusted friend's walked up to him.
He's name was Roscoe Ernouf. Roscoe was the age of twenty nine. He had long blond braided hair with a blonde goatee. He had green eyes. He was one of the richest farmers in Geirland. "What's bothering you my friend," Roscoe asked as he sat down by him. "One of King Calder's guards just told me some unfortunate news," Kory replied as he drank his cup of beer. "He said that he overheard King Calder and Queen Gull talking about what to do with me. King Calder is having me assassinated," Kory continued as he took another sip of beer. "Why would try to assassinate you Kory," Roscoe asked as he ate his nettle soup. "You were for the meeting that King Calder had yesterday," Kory replied. "I questioned King Calder in front of everyone and embarrassed him," Kory continued. "That doesn't mean he's not going to kill you Kory," Roscoe said. "This is not the first time I question him in front of everyone in this great hall," Kory said as he finished his first cup.
"We had our issues way before he went after King Hjalmar and his lands," Kory continued. "Are you afraid to die," Roscoe asked as he drank his cup of ale. "No, I'm not afraid to die," Kory replied as he poured himself a second cup of beer. "I'm afraid for my family and what would happen to them if he kills. My wife just gave birth to my newborn son two weeks ago. What if he kills them because of my poor judgement," Kory continued as he drank his cup of beer. "Let me help you defend your family against King Calder," Roscoe said. "I know some men who would gladly fight him with us," Roscoe continued. "No if you do that you'll attract the other kings and jarls attention here," Kory said. "But there's something else you can do for me Roscoe," Kory continued. "What is it Kory," Roscoe asked as he looked at him.
"Go to Even and King Hjalmar and tell them about the new army that King Calder has built," Kory said. "I trust Even much more King Calder. Even is even stronger than King Calder and I think he'll make a better king for our people. And they need to know the size of King Calder's army in order to defeat him. Take those men and fight for him and our home," Kory continued as he had another sip of beer. "Of course Kory," Roscoe replied as he finished his cup of ale. Four days later King Calder and six of the men were standing outside of Kory's home. He lived outside of Gosta in a small hut for the peace and quiet. It was a small village where Kory lived with his family. All of the villagers were gone, some were in Gosta to trade or buy food and gear. The others were fishing and hunting for themselves or families. Kory stayed home to protect his family from King Calder's wraith. Somehow he knew that this would be his last day. He had a dream of his death last night, he was bleeding out on the ground with stab wounds all over his body.
The dream scared him because he saw his own death. It scared him because he didn't see his family's future. A few minutes later Kory grabbed his axe and shield. His wife and child were asleep as he stepped outside of his hut. "You know why i'm here, do you," King Calder asked as he looked at Kory's axe and shield. "Yes I do Calder," Kory replied. "I just have one favor to ask of you," Kory continued. "What is it," King Calder asked as he grabbed the hilt of his sword. "Please spare the lives of my wife and my child," Kory replied. "She just gave birth to a boy and I want him to grow up. And the boy is going to need his mother if I die today," Kory continued. "Yes I can do that," King Calder said as he pulled out his sword. The six men that he brought with him pulled out their weapons.
Three of King Calder's men rushed towards Kory with swords, axes, shields, and spears. Kory had his axe in his left hand and he had his shield raised in his right hand. He blocked the sword and slashed open the first man's throat with his axe. Kory hatched off the second man's head as the first man dropped to the floor. The third man threw his spear at Kory as the second man's head rolled on the ground. Kory dodged the spear and watched the spear go to the door of his hut. His wife screamed when the spear hit the door. Kory's face was filled with more fear and worry as the four men tackled him. When he tackled Kory he left himself defenseless against him. Kory slashed the third man in his chest with his axe then pushed the third man off him. As he got up, Kory pulled out his axe for the man's chest. After Kory retrieved his axe, he slashed open the third man's head to finish him off. Kory finished the fourth man with the neck. King Calder and the two other men ran towards Kory. Kory slashed the fifth men in the stomach and watched him fall. As Kory swung his axe towards the sixth man, King Calder stabbed him in the back.
