Sober Lucy+Alex

Ever since Alex found out that her ex-fiance and one of the loves of her life was killed in the line of duty she has been a mess. The other love of her life is currently on the other side of the world fighting a war in Afghanistan. It's been days since she found out about Maggie and she's all by herself, Lucy is not around to help her. After everything that happened between Alex and Maggie they became friends in the end of it all, Maggie was Alex's best friend and confidant. Alex spends most of her days drunk and passed out on the floor of her apartment with her and Maggie's dog Sasha guarding her owner. Alex broke her 3 year sobriety over Maggie's death, Lucy helped Alex get sober when they first started dating. Kara hasn't seen or heard from her sister in days so she decides to drop by and see what's going on. When Kara walks into Alex's apartment through the open window the sight that meets her is not at all what she expected. Alex is passed out on the floor in clothes that are days old, bottles of all kinds of booze all over the floor, some spilled on the floor, Alex is clutching an bottle of bourbon that was Maggie's favorite in her hand and it's empty. Sasha is curled up in a ball on the floor leaning against Alex's back facing the front door. Kara tears up at the sight of her older sister like this and this is the first glimpse of what college was for Alex which she kept from Kara. Kara walks slowly over to her sister and tries to walk her up which she finds to be a bad idea because Alex's instant reaction was to punch who ever it was waking her up. Alex connected right with Kara's jaw, Kara didn't move an inch and she heard bones in Alex's hand crack. Kara grabs ahold of Alex before she can hurt herself further and wraps her arms around her sisters and holds them down hugging her close.

Ka: Hey hey calm down its me, calm down. It's ok it's me Kara

Al: (starts crying) I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I.... .I ... she's gone Kar like gone gone. Never coming back, I don't know what to do without her. It hurts so bad and I messed up, I'm so sorry.

Ka: Hey hey, it's ok. I know it sucks right now, we all miss her Al we know there's a big gaping hole that she left, but you need to let us help you out of it because you won't get out on your own

Al: Ok, I'll try

Ka: That's all we ever ask of you Alex, all we ask is you try and ask for help. Let's get you to the D.E.O and check out your hand and sober you up. I'm very certain you broke your hand punching me in the face I heard a crack.

Al: I'm sorry

Ka: No, I am. I should have grabbed you before you hit me but I think I was still a little shocked at what I walked into

Al: I never wanted you to see me like this, that's why I always acted weird around you when I was in college because I was so messed up that I barely knew what day it was. Thank you for always being here

Ka: Forever

Kara picks up her sister and flys to the D.E.O and drops her off a the medbay and then goes to find Jonn. Kara tells him what happened and then he calls Lucy's CO and pulls her out for a family emergency that is a unknown length of time. Kara flies off to go get Lucy and Jonn goes to keep an eye on Alex. He walks into the room and she smiles at the sight of the man that has been like a father to her and Kara. He sits on the side of her bed and puts a hand on her leg and she knows he knows.

Jo: So what's the verdict on the hand?

Al: boxers fracture , broke both bones in my wrist and a few in my hand, broke a few knuckles

Jo: (whistles) ouch

Al: (laughs) yeah, well that's what I get for punching the girl of steel in the face

Jo: It's going to be ok, I hope you know that Alex. were all here

Al: Not everyone, Maggie's dead because her partner is a rookie and Lucy is on the other side of the country. I swear to god if I see that rookie around I will kill him, he took one of the best things to happen to me away from me. He let them take Maggie from me Jonn, Maggie why her why not someone else. Why did it have to be her, I can't do this without her (chokes on her tears and Jonn hugs her)

Jo: we are going to get you through this Alex, every single one of us, were not giving up on you ever, ok you hear me never (Lucy and Kara quietly walk in)

Lu: (looks up to Alex and her heart breaks) OH baby...... (walks over to Alex and hugs her tight)

Al: (relaxes into the hug) What are you doing here? (won't let go)

Lu: Jonn took me out of service till you get better, you needed me so Kara came and got me. I've actually been thinking about retiring after this tour anyway so I could spend more time with you

Al: I'm happy to see you

Lu: me too even under the sucky circumstances

Al: I love you

Lu: (smiles) I love you too, it's going to be ok. Were going to be ok, we will get through this I promise. Babe?

Al: Yeah

Lu: What happened to your hand (sees the black and red cast that will be on her for months)

Al: I punched Kara in the face

Lu: (laughs) She shook you awake didn't she?

Al: Yeah

Lu: (turns to Kara) Bad idea little Danvers, her immediate reaction is to throw a punch, it's something about being a soldier and our sixth sense. You got to be gentle then you won't get punched

Ka: noted

They talk for a little while longer and how they are going to move forward from this situation. Alex and Lucy leave the D.E.O together and head back to their place where Lucy cleans up and Alex goes and lays down on the couch, Lucy comes out of Alex's bathroom after cleaning up dressed in black joggers, Alex's thrasher t-shirt and walks over to the couch. Lucy lays down next to Alex facing her and kisses her on the forehead. Alex smiles at her and kisses her back wrapping her arms around her.

Al: I missed you

Lu:(smiles) I missed you too babe

Al: I'm sorry that you had to come home to this

Lu: It's ok Alex, I get it, probably better than anyone else, you know I've been there Alex

Al: I know, I'm glad that I have you to help me through this

Lu: I happy that I get to help you through this because I need you in my life. I need you for the rest of my life

Al: I need you for the rest of my life too Luce

Lu: I'm never going to give up on you Lex, I really hope you know that. I know what Maggie means to you and I'm here when you need me

Al: I know, thank you for coming home

Lu: I would not let you go though this on your own Alex ever

Al: I love you

Lu: I love you too babe

It was a long and hard process for the both of them, but in the end Alex made it out the other side and got sober. She officially turned 5 years sober the day that Lucy gave birth to their daughters Skyler Sydney Danvers and Aspen Allison Danvers who are carbon copies of Lucy. Lucy and Alex got married two years before the girls were born and Lucy became the director of the D.E.O desert base while Alex was the Director of the city base with Vasquez at her side. Maggie could't be happier for her best friend and blessed Alex with something that came into her life shortly after her funeral. Maggie had a daughter before she died she was 4 years old when Maggie died and the only person Maggie trusted to take care of her girl was Alex, she left Jamie in her will to Alex. Jamie officially became a danvers when she was ready but went by Danvers-Sawyer to remember her mom. Jamie was just turning 10 when the twins were born and she couldn't be more excited to have siblings, she was the best big sister ever and she learned it all form her mama who is a big sister herself. As the twins got older Alex could tell that Jamie rubbed off on them and they picked up certain things that Jamie got from Maggie and she would tear up at the thought but these girls were the best thing to happen to her and she has Maggie and Lucy to thank for that. Those girls are what kept Alex sober, she never touched alcohol after Jamie came into their lives in only a Sawyer fashion.
