I don't know why again it felt better hearing that. Nauna si Kisses na pumasok sa room sumunod naman ako and both of us acted normal, like nothing happened just outside.
Nilapitan ako ni AC and asked me what's wrong with me and Kisses.
"Ha? Wala naman." sagot ko sa kanya
"You two looked really weird." sabi niyang ganun
I hissed. "Imagination nyo lang yun."
"At mas naging weird pa na halos parehas kayo ng sagot dalawa." natatawang sabi ni AC
"Alam mo girl, bumalik ka na dun. Aga aga nakikichismis." biro ko sa kanya, inirapan nya naman ako at umalis na
The day went by smoothly. Nag long quiz kami sa calculus at nag perform sa social sciences. Okay naman. Ang saya ng discussion namin sa Humanities. Actually, discussion which turned out to be a debate. Miss Alex opened up the difference between following one's mind and following one's heart. She asked us questions which triggered our way of thinking. Of how we would react about the issue.
"Yes Kisses? Any thoughts about it?" lahat kami napatingin kay Kisses nang tanungin sya ni Miss Alex, "You looked like you were thinking so much." natatawang tugon ni Miss.
"I just remembered something Miss." she said and stood up, "My science teacher once asked us about the organization of the systems in our body. Why is it that the brain is found on the topmost part of our body than any other parts?"
"Miss I know why!" Kyle exclaimed
"Yes Kyle?" tanong ni Miss
"Because it reminds us to always follow our mind." sabi niya, "Mind over matter ika nga."
"Exactly." sagot ni Kisses, "But although we know that we should follow what our brain says, we still follow what's in here." sabi niya sabay turo sa puso niya
Tiningnan ko si Kisses. I looked at the reactions of my classmates. Lahat sila napaisip. Lahat sila may gustong sabihin pero walang nagsasalita.
Tumayo ako at tumingin kay Miss. "That's tha magic of love, Miss."
Natawa sila sa sagot ko. Si Kisses hindi. "But love does not come from your heart." sagot niya sa akin
"Kung hindi sa puso, edi saan Kisses?" challenging this charming lady in front of me, she smiled sweetly.
"Here, Donny." lumapit sya sa akin at tinuro ang utak ko. "The job of our heart is to pump blood. Only that. We fall in love through our brain."
I can feel that suddenly, the world stopped revolving at this very second. Our classmates were like watching a live episode of a series they can't afford to blink. I looked at them asking for help but no one tries to. So I'm trying to save myself.
"So you're telling me that the line I love you with all of my heart is wrong. Or should it be, I love you will all of my mind?" I spurted out and never having to imagine that it really sounded so cheezy. So my classmates started to scream and tease us.
Kisses blushed for a second, I see. I bit my lip, unapologetically.
"Yes Kisses?" Miss Alex seconded, she looked at me again,
"No Donny." sagot niya
"So what is the right term Kisses?" I asked her again, she nodded.
"I love you with all of my hypothalamus."
And that's it. Iñigo threw a fist. Maris was in shock and was screaming. Some of the classmates were jumping in astonishment.
I coughed a little and made them all quiet. AC looked so jiggy and fluffy.
"You are saying that you love me? Tinatanong lang kita kanina kung friends na ba tayo, ngayon love agad?"
She did not answer. People squealed in excitement.
"Ligawan mo kaya muna ako?" i jokingly told her
Kisses
Langit lupa. Kainin niyo na po ako. Donny is such a loser. No. I am. But I've never lost in any debates like this. Baka ngayon lang.
I breathed in and out. Think Kisses, think. AC tries to pull my hand to her. Teasing me.
I was thinking for a winning but in when Miss Alex interrupted.
"Delavin? Pangilinan? Is there something going on between the two of you?" na kahit si Miss hindi na maitago ang kilig at mukhang ang saya saya pa
"Wala po Miss." mabilis na sagot ko
"Wala pa po Miss." singit naman ni Iñigo, kaya naman mas lalo kaming tinukso sa klase
"I'm glad I'm seeing this today." sagot ni Miss Alex, "Okay. Let's leave it like that. That'd be all for today, enjoy your weekend!"
Masaya naman sila. At eto ako, balik tahimik para iwas tukso. I was ready to go outside when Donny blocked my way,
"Kisses." sabi niya, "Galing mo today."
"Yeah." nagsimula naman akong maglakad papuntang canteen, hinahanap ko pa sina AC pero ang bilis namang nawala
"Uy joke lang yun kanina ah." he tried to a reconcile
"Yeah, it's fine. Sige na, I'll go ahead." sabi ko sa kanya ay inunahan na syang maglakad,
"Sabay tayo mag lunch?"
Kinaibigan ko lang si Donny kaninang umaga, but why do I feel that something has changed now?
