Beacon Academy, The Next Morning
A bald dark-skinned young man wearing a sky blue visor, white shirt with blue and red stripes and a number 4, and short black sleeves, white pants, black boots with white zippers, black leather belt, and black gloves walked out of the room where his fellow first-year students slept.

He went to his locker and opened it. "All right," said the young man to himself. "Gotta check the system diagnostics on my visors in case I decide to get sneaky with the Grimm." A voice behind him said, "Colby Charcoal, as I live and breathe. Didn't know you were going to be in Beacon." Colby turned to see a tan-skinned young man with reddish brown hair and brown eyes. He wore a brown wide-brimmed hat with a silver bull medallion, a red zip up jacket with a white cotton collar, brown pants, and red cowboy boots.

Colby smiled, "Tanner Auburn. Didn't know you were goin' either. Guess we're both in a surprise." The two fist bumped as Tanner asked, "Can't wait to sneak into shadows and get the Grimm before they see you coming?" Colby nodded, "Yep. How 'bout you? Ready to rock the Grimm's world?" Tanner replied, "You know it."

Sari Sumdac and Lavender Lilac found that their lockers were next to each other. Lavender opened her locker and pulled out a box. She opened it to reveal two shurikens resembling lilac flower petals.

Sari started, "Sooo... you still haven't told me about why you cracked the wall." Lavender put her shurikens onto the sides of her boots as she said matter of factly, "Because I was frustrated. That's why." Sari asked, "What were you so frustrated about?" Lavender turned to see her and asked, "Why are you asking me these questions?" Sari responded, "Because I am worried about you." The purple-haired young woman looked down and sighed, "I just don't want to talk about what happened to me and my home." Sari gave this some thought as she then reluctantly accepted, "Okay. I won't ask any personal questions again, Lavender. But one day you'll have to." Lavender thought, Somehow I doubt it.

Later
Every first year student lined up as they stood on a square on a cliff side. "For years, you have trained to become warriors. And today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest," said Professor Ozpin to the students. Glynda Goodwitch pitched in, "Now, I'm sure many of you have heard about the assignment of teams. Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates... Today." Both Sari and Lavender wondered who will they end up as partners. Ozpin stepped in and continued, "These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well. That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years." Colby looked at Tanner and said, "It'll have to due. You ready to be a cliffjumper?" Tanner nodded with excitement as the headmaster instructed, "After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way." Sari thought with a smile, I'm ready for anything! I'll make you proud, Daddy. Ozpin warned, "Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path, or you will die." Colby thought, Guess we won't be gettin' support in the right places 'cause this ain't a game. Gotta be ready for anythin'. Ozpin informed, "You will be monitored and graded for the duration of your initiation. But our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one, and return to the top of the cliff. We will regard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?" Every first year student stood ready, except for a blonde young man who was very nervous started, "Yeah, um, sir.." Ozpin interrupted, "Good! Now take your positions." Everyone got ready but the blond guy said, "Uh, sir? I've got, um, a question." Then a white haired young woman was launched off. "So, this landing strategy thing, uh, w-what is it? You're, like, dropping us off or something?" asked the guy. Ozpin answered plainly, "No. You will be falling." Everyone else started launching and soon it was Sari's turn. She screamed with excitement as she felt the cool breeze and instantly shifted into some kind of a robotic suit.

Meanwhile At The Emerald Forest
Grimwing was walking in his beast mode carrying his bag of Energon crystals he had over his shoulder. He decided not to fly to his destination as he felt it would draw too much unwanted attention. He then heard a couple of voices over his head and he looked up to see what it was. Grimwing shrugged it off as he continued on his way. He wondered, "What was that? I never heard noises like that in the forest."

At The Cliff Side
Ozpin was surveying the monitors to see his students' progress until he saw a Grimm Beowolf with Nevermore wings, tail feathers, and talons on its hind legs holding a bag over its shoulder. "This must be the flying Beowolf James mentioned," said Ozpin in surprise. Glynda took a look and asked, "But that's impossible... unless its... her?" He shook his head and responded, "No. She never had the ability to do so before." Then to their added surprise, they heard the winged Beowolf say, "What was that? I never heard noises like that in the forest." Glynda asked slowly, "Did that Beowolf just talk?" Ozpin nodded in confirmation.
