*Lily's POV*

"Alex? I feel different. Weird. What happened?" I ask, beginning to panic. I just woke up and found Alex and the doctor leaning over me, shock all over their faces. Well shock was all over the doctor, Alex had a combination of shock, anger, pain and confusion. Everything felt strange, like everything is moving in fast forward or something. I must have hit my head. A sharp pain in my mouth came suddenly and I reached to touch my gum. Alex moved to stop me, grabbing my hand.

"Babe, maybe you shouldn't do that..." he says.

"What, why? My gums hurt." As I said this the pain stabbed again and my tongue shot to the spot. Something sharp greeted the tip of my tongue. I feel my muscles freeze over and my eyes widen.

"Alex let go of my hand." I say slowly. He hesitates but does as I ask, or rather as I command. My hand shoots to my teeth and I feel them, the sharp fangs now protruding from my sore gums. I'm on my feet in seconds, I stumble a little, not used to the speed.

"How?!" I shriek.

"Calm down Lily, I don't know how it happened. We'll figure it out though. Come here," he says, opening his arms for me. I struggle to move, unsure of what is happening. He comes to me instead and wraps his arms around my waist. He feels different, softer, and smoother? I don't know.

"If I may?" The doctor says, stepping towards us. Alex nods in approval for him to say whatever is on his mind.

"Perhaps in private...?"

They both look at me but I refuse to move.

"Maybe just say it please."

"Very well. I believe Lily died from loss of blood, she was in terrible shape when you brought her to me. She must have had both vampire venom and blood in her system otherwise she would have just died normally."

"Lily, did some one bite you?" Alex asks, looking at me. I can't speak though, hearing about how you just died kind of tightens your tongue and throat a little bit.

"Lily?" Alex asks again, pulling me from a trance.

"I don't think so, I can't remember."

"She may have been weakened, possibly unconscious during the process." Unconscious?

"The round man, he was always injecting something into my arm to make me unconscious for some of the time."

"Was he a vampire?" The doctor asks.

"I don't know, I don't think so."

"What if he was injecting venom and blood? He could have had access to it." Alex suggested.

"But why?" I ask. "Mariah did all this because she hated me for choosing vampires over her. She wouldn't allow him to change me."

"What if she didn't know?"

"I doubt it..." I said.

"He's dead now too, so we can't even ask him." Alex said, frustrated. "Wait, when I killed him, he was...weird. I don't know, he seemed happy to see me. He had a genuine smile, and I swear he said 'you're welcome' or something like it."

"That's crazy though, he tortured me Alex. I don't think he'd want to save me."

"He was following orders. I'm just saying that maybe he didn't want you to die. I mean let's face it, you would have died permanently if whoever did this hadn't done it."

"I think perhaps you should speak to the King and Queen. They've been quite worried and might be able to offer more insight than I am able to." The doctor says, a sad smile on his face. "I'm sorry I couldn't save you Lily." I let go of Alex and crossed the room to him, encircling him in a hug.
