thirty one.

i stood at the train station along with the boys with a big knitted jumper on. i leaned on james smiling at him before turning to his parents.

"thanks for letting rem and i stay over the holidays." i said before leaning forward to give both potters a hug.

"well you better write to me y/n." Mia said and i chuckled before she turned to scol james.

"will. you. ever. brush. your. hair." she said and i chuckled.

he smiled sheepishly. "y/n likes it this way ask her yourself."

i pulled back from the hug before joining james beside him as mia questioned me. i only responded in a simple shrug.

"i suppose so, does look likes a rats nest half of the time?"

"you're not wrong." peter said speaking up making us all burst into laughter.

the train whistle blew signaling for everyone to get on the train and we pulled our trunks on before falling into a compartment.

i fiddled with the head girl badge which layed in my pocket. who happened to be the head boy. after a hour or so i checked the time and grabbed my robes from my trunk.

i walked through the narrow corridor finding a bathroom changing quickly and pinned the badge on too. as i sat beside james his grin widened.

"why are you so happy?"

"well lara j i happen to be head boy."

"you two are head boy and girl, why aren't you in the prefects compartment!" remus explained and we shrugged before getting up and making our way all the way down.

as we opened the door we were greeted by twenty four prefects. six from each house. they were all sat there with bored expressions plasted on their faces and many of them sighed as james and i walked in.

"uh so i'm James and this is Y/N and we're head boy and girl this year." He started.

"how can you two be head boy and girl. you've never been prefects."

"uh well. ask dumbledore?" i said. and the girl simply rolled her eyes and james kept explaining.

afterwards james and i found ourselves in two seats at the back of the prefect compartment. i leaned on the wall resting my legs on top of his lap. he was reading out a story and i leaned back listening as he spoke softly.

the compartment door bursted open and two prefects from hufflepuff walked in sitting down. james stopped reading and i peaked my head out from where i was sat.

"Ella Thomas and Randle Tral from slytherin. Now you guys are on patrol." i said then melanie sister ella and randle got up from where they were sat and walked out of the compartment.

As we arrived James pulled me close to him wrapping an arm around my waist as we made our way into the great hall.

"Is there any students behind us jamie?"

"don't think so." he said turning to me. i gave him a kiss before we walked in and separated to our respective houses.

I slid into my spot next to Gabbie and Melanie and gave them each a quick hug before i turned to the front where Professor Dumbledore now stood.

"Welcome Back all students and professors to the new year. Welcome back now graduating class of 1978 hope you all have a splendid year and welcome to our first years. Please do enjoy your stay." Clapping i turned to Mel who's grin was plasted on her face.

"Now, I'd like to introduce head boy and girl. Y/N Lara-James Lupin is our head girl this year. May you please rise." He said and i stood up where i imminently felt stares of the whole room on me.

Waving and smiling i turned back to the front. "And our headboy this year will be James Potter."

The Gryffindor table started cheering and i couldn't help but laugh as i clapped my hands for my boyfriend who stood two tables away from me with his stupid grin on his face.

Dumbledore then told us each of the prefects which i already met on the train then we were finally allowed to sit down for the sorting.

"How the bloody did you get Head Girl?" Melanie asked turning around and all i could do was shrug and say.

"Who bloody knows."
