twenty two.

the date was the 27th of february. it was late winter and all snow had melted long ago. it was starting to warm up and i was very happy.

i walked to the marauders who were sat at the gryffindor table. "hello y/n." sirius said looking up. i smiled sitting next to james and peter.

since remus and sirius started dating our whole seating plan at the table changed. james was being over dramatic about the whole change but in reality sirius and peter just swapped spots.

"hello you all."

"ah y/n we have finally got you a date." i rolled my eyes at him.

the four had tried to convince me to go on a date with this mystery guy claiming that i was lonely. I tried to argue with them as much as i could saying that i was perfectly fine but they just wouldn't listen.

I grabbed my toast taking a bite out of it before raising an eyebrow at them. "Who is it?" i asked.

James chuckled. "We can't tell you that's the whole point."

"But Jamie." I winged. I hated surprises. For all i knew they could be setting me up with Ash Draw. Let's just say i haven't talked to him in months.

"Well meet the mysterious man at your favorite tree near the black lake at 6:30 tonight." Remus said.

"You're suppose to be my brother protective and shit and your letting these two do this to me?" He chuckled.

"You did promise." I rolled my eyes folding my arms. Grumbling under my breath.

"Fine i did."

"Well great well send a letter to the mystery man." Peter said. I nudged him before grabbing another slice of toast. I was in for a lot tonight.

Classes were boring once again. Although i did appreciate them due to the fact that exams were soon. After the last class i headed down to the great hall to eat dinner.

I was going to sit at my spot with the marauders but did not see them at the gryffindor table. I shrugged going to sit with Melanie and Gabbie at the ravenclaw table.

"Hello you two."

" 'ello Y/N." Melanie said and i chuckled.

"Don't you have that mystery date soon the one you were telling us about in Potions?" I nodded at gabbie.

"i thought i should eat something little before going." Melanie nodded and us three had a small conversation before i saw the time.

I waved as i began walking off to the ravenclaw tower. I threw my book bag onto my bed and grabbed my clothes before slipping into my shower.

After my shower i put on my black, skirt overalls with a rainbow striped turtleneck under. I slipped on my flats and smiled at my appearance in the mirror.

I closed the door behind me checking the time quickly. 6:20. I had ten minutes to get down. I began walking down and there were hardly any students in the halls and i could only imagine that most were sat in the great hall eating dinner and chattering among each other.

Walking outside the cool breeze hit me and i sighed with relief happy that i wore a long sleeve and not a short sleeve.

Reaching the black late i spotted a figure with black hair standing there looking the other direction.

"Okay Y/N get your act together." I mumbled quietly to myself before walking towards the person. I stood behind them and tapped them on the shoulder.

"James?"

"Y/N." My mouth gapped open. It was James Potter who stood in front of me. Not some mystery boy. But simply my bestfriend.

I coughed awkwardly. "Are you who i've been set up with?" i asked. He sheepishly smiled at me and i chuckled.

"I would've never imagined to be honest." I whispered stepping closer to him.

"Never?"

"No never." He sat down and i sat beside him.

I looked at him. "I'm sorry if you do like me but i don't know if i feel the same right now James."

"It's quite alright Y/N, i'm used to that you know. With the whole Lily Evans fiasco."

"I thought the boys were helping set you up with her. Never could imagine me." I said quietly.

He responded in a quite chuckle. "I suppose i'm a tad strange sometimes."

"Can this please not affect our friendship Jame. You are my best friend after all." I turned to him and saw a smile form on his lips as he responded.

"It could never Y/N."
