Kibum (fluff) | Colors of the Season

Your much awaited moment finally came true when you bagged yourself a ticket to a solo Kibum event; a showcase event to be exact. Being a fan of SHINee, especially a fan of Kibum for 7 years brought you much joy and you were ecstatic to finally get a chance to see him. Having Kibum as your ultimate bias evoked many forms of emotions in you, ranging from happiness to tears of joy to eternal bliss, but the most memorable experience you could remember is the burst of colors Kibum's voice set in your perception. His sweet honey-like voice always ignited beautiful colors within you, leaving you warmed up and overwhelmed, and you were excited to finally give a lively face to those emotions.

When Kibum's name was announced at the start of the showcase you saw the heavenly form of him walk on stage looking like an ethereal angel you had never seen before. "Good evening everyone. I am SHINee's Key, welcome to my showcase event!" He smiled warmly and waved at his fans. You clutched your hands tightly against your chest and admired Kibum in awe. The host of the event, Heechul, directed Kibum to the chairs and they both took a seat. Heechul started off with talks of Kibum's first solo album, Face.

"Why did you choose to name your album 'Face'?" Heechul proposed the first question. "Well, first of all, back when Jonghyun went solo, a little while after Taemin, he based his first album's name off of Taemin's first album's name. So it was 'base' right after 'ace'. He sort of 'plagiarized' in a sense, you could say and that sort of stuck on with us, also within the fandom. So I branched my first album's name 'Face' off of Taemin's and Jonghyun's first album to maintain that shinee tradition." Kibum laughed in sweet memory. "Also, I named it Face because it felt right. It felt like a good symbolism to signify by identity as an idol. When I first debuted as SHINee I was very insecure about myself, about my looks. But now that I've come this far being an idol for about 8 years, I've become more comfortable in my own skin. So 'Face' symbolizes my self confidence"

Many would think Kibum's voice is music to their ears, but for you, it's a whole new world. Kibum's voice paints a vortex that has never existed before and sucks you into its oblivion. Every time you listen to his voice it creates a new dimension that radiates a new heavenly feeling each time. It gives life to the dead that resides within you; it blooms the spring in you that no other source can spark. He paints a life for you that you have always dreamed to live; and you guess that's why you have loved him so much and continue to do so. Every time he speaks you fall him love with him again. And the cycle continues.

But it was different to hear him live. It was as if every color, even those unknown to the real world have made themselves known.

You admired Kibum from the set distance completely zoning out, drowning in his voice, yet conscious enough to process his words and react to them.

"How much did you learn from Taemin's and Jonghyun's solo debut, and how did you incorporate that into your solo debut?" A fan who sat next to you asked when the time for fans' questions and answers rolled around

When the fan finished asking her question, she naturally handed her mike down to you not knowing what else to do with it and you subconsciously grabbed it having left no choice.

"Well they both have their own perspective on music and story telling. They gave me tips and gave me honest reviews on the music I was working on so their experiences helped me navigate through any doubts or confusions I may have had, while allowing me to steer my own ship" Kibum replied.

"Look at you guys living the life. Out here talking to your favorite idol" Heechul glared at us, playfully, and the audience laughed at his antic. "How does it feel to talk to Kibum?" Heechul asked and the audience quieted down, waiting for a response. You furrowed your eyebrows when you felt the mike was in your hands and you widened you eyes in surprise.

You looked up at Heechul and Kibum who were scanning the audience waiting for someone to talk.

You brought the mike to your lips, your hands slightly trembling.

"Um. It feels really great to talk him and hear him live..." Heechul pouted at your short response and Kibum smiled at you. Your breathing stopped at the sudden attention.

"That's it? Come on, it better feel even more exciting and unrealistic!" Heechul hyped and you tightened your grip around the mike.

You looked at Kibum once again.

*Kibum's perspective*

"Talking to Kibum and hearing him live feels lively. He makes me feel a way I've never felt before. He makes me see the world that doesn't exist. He has always had this affect on me. His voice looks like a violet color, not limited to and changing with every tone and range. Kibum in general looks like the color violet in my perspective. When he sings, I see more blasts of blue that make a darker violet color because his voice is very deep and consistent, creating the powerful aura, and when he speaks I see more blasts of red that make a lighter color of violet because his voice is honey crisp and soft that draws me into his naivety. As a fan who has Grapheme-color synesthesia, I see colors when I listen to people talk, but the most pleasant and memorable of them all are the colors I see when Kibum talks. That's how I feel, what I see right now"

The whole venue fell silent. I silently gaped at the words said by the fan. Her sincerity and the drip of the description of what I feel and look like left me baffled. Having a very up-front experience with someone who has synesthesia felt very life changing; especially hearing this from a fan who is explaining what I look like in terms of colors. I guess you could say I never knew something like this existed.

I looked at my fan who looked back at me before quickly diverting her eyes. I broke apart and looked at Heechul who was equally as shocked as I was and I felt that energy in the audience, as well

There was this honesty and depth in her words.

"That was.... a beautiful description. Thank you so much." I spoke despite feeling speechless. "It was very refreshing to hear what I look like in terms of colors, and to know how that has positively affected you really gave me and my purpose as an idol a whole new meaning. Thank you." I genuinely thanked and the fan shyly smiled at me.

Talks continued before the fan signing event started. I took a seat, greeting and signing fans' cds, enjoying the opportunity to interact with my fans after quite a while. And needless to say, I was waiting to meet that fan once again.

*your perspective*

When the cd signing event started you clutched onto your album real tight, nervous of coming face to face with Kibum after that very blunt of a confession. You stood at the distance admiring Kibum while he was busy signing cds and interacting with his fans. His habit of maintaining eye contact with that beaming smile while signing cds so he could allow more time for an intimate interaction was still persistent and very swoon worthy.

The line kept on growing short and you inched closer to Kibum. Before you knew it, it was your time to meet Kibum.

Kibum looked up at you and his eyes widened a bit when he spotted you- you guessed realization hit him. Within the next millisecond he broke down into the most warmest smile you had ever seen and suddenly your body was stripped of the cold anxiety that was eating you up and warmth hugged you from the inside. You smiled back at him and he gave you his hand for you to intertwine your fingers with. You gladly gave in taking this time to thank him for all his hard work and sincerity towards himself and his fans.

"It was refreshing to hear your story. I hope I continue to make you feel the same way forever. Come back soon and take care" Kibum smiled at you and handed you the signed CD. You genuinely smiled at him and took the CD. "I can imagine because there's so much magic" you quoted Kibum's lyrics from his song 'Imagine' and he looked down and chuckled in a carefree manner with surprise. "I'll be waiting to hear your story again in the next fanmeet" you smiled at Kibum in a promising manner and nodded your head before slightly bowing down. You walked back to your seat and turned the CD to read his message.

"Thank you for coming today. Please continue to show love!

You raised my brows in surprise at the coincidence and smiled at the message. You looked up at Kibum and saw him radiating that infectious smile of his as he continued to meet his fans. Your eyes widened and you realized once again that this man is the eternal love of you life and god wouldn't give him up for anything.
