Chapter One

My Hero

While walking, maraming bumagabag sa isipan ko kaya hindi ko namalayan kong saan na pala ako dinadala ng sarili kong mga paa. I just found myself in the dim lane at doon ko lang narealize na malayo-layo na pala ang nalakad ko. I turned to see my way back but I can't trace it anymore cause it's so dark.

I heard some footsteps from afar at naaninag ko ang dalawang medyo payat na lalaki ngunit matatangkad naman. Hindi ko inalintana ang dilim, I walked back to where I came but it's already too late. Pinagitnaan na nila ako.

"Ayyy....Tu..." hindi ko na natuloy ang akmang paghingi sana ng tulong nang biglang takpan ng isang lalaki ang aking bibig at tinulak ako sa pader.

My knees are already trembling. 'What if drug addicts ang mga ito at napagtripan ako. Mamamatay na ba ako? Oh God please not now.' In the middle of my trembling knees all I can do is cried silently.

"Who's there?" a baritone voice ask in the middle of the dark.

Parang nabuhayan ako ng pag-asa. The two men are saying something, parang nagtutulakan sila kung iwan ba ako o hindi but in the end they decided to leave me. All I can do is cry and hug my trembling knees. Aleast I'm safe now.

"Is it you? The one who asked help a while ago?" the man said with a hard accent in his voice behind me.

"Y-yes." I answered him almost like a whisper.Nanatili parin akong nakayuko. Takot!

"Are you okay? Take this." he handed me a handkerchief.

"Thanks." I accepted and wiped my tears.

"Why are you here when it's already getting dark?" he asked.

"I-I was walking to relieve some pains but I didn't notice that it's already getting dark. Before I could take my way back, two men attack me, but when they heard your voice they leave posthastly." I explained to him clearly.

"Good they leave you!" my pagbabanta sa kanyang boses ng sinabi iyon.

"Salamat at dumating ka kung hindi ay baka napano na ako." I sobbed.

"Where did you stayin'? I escort you so that I can make sure that your safe, baka maya-maya bumalik pa ang mga iyon." he said na para bang concerned sakin.

"Salamat." I answered ignoring his first question.

"By the way, my name is Ivan." he extended his arm for me.

"Catherine, Cath for short." he didn't say his surname that's why I don't say mine also.

Before we proceed to my quarter I invited him for dinner. It's good thing he didn't refuse. We talked something about our lives but didn't bother to mention personal work. Ayaw ko rin namang pag-usapan iyon. It's so controversial.

"By the way, are you free tomorrow's night Cath?" he inserted that topic after paying our meals. Ako sana magbayad kasi ako ang nag-invite sa kanya ng dinner kaso he didn't let me.

"Oh why?" I said a bit confused.

"I have a favor, if you agree."

"Sure, What is it?" I said with a smile. He sighed before saying.

"I have a party to attend tomorrow, If I can't bother you, Can I have you as my date for the party?"

"What. Ako? As in me? Wait! Pag ba my party kailangan ba talaga ng ka date diba pwedeng walang ganun? And infairness you can invite your girlfriend as your date. Bakit ako?" I said a bit confused.

"Pwede namang walang ka date pag umatend ka ng party but as of me kailangan cause the host of that party has a spoiled daughter that has a thing on me. And I need someone so that I can finally introduce to her as my girlfriend so that she'd stop her illusion." he said it na parang nangigigil.

"Okay.. okay let me think of it for tonight. You can have my decision tommorrow morning." I said when we reached near my room. Nasa kabila lang naman ang kanyang room kaya hindi na naging mahirap pa sa kanya iyon.

"Can I have your number so that I can call you for the follow up." he handed me his phone. I typed my number in it.

"Here."I handed him his phone back. "By the way thanks again for saving me a while ago." I thanked him again and enter in my room.

For the whole night hindi agad ako dinalaw ng antok dahil sa imbitasyong iyon. What will be my discussion? I will accept it or not? Sa wakas I choose to accept the invitation so that I can know him deeply. And as a compensation for saving my life lately.
