violet awoke to the sound of light snoring beside her, she tried to sit up but found herself anchored down by a strong pair of arms wrapped around her torso.

she expected a pounding headache and a snappy attitude to follow from her, that had usually been the case when she woke up next to someone.

however, the memory of her completely sober night flooded back to her, causing an audible gasp to escape her lips.

"morning beautiful" a gruff voice hummed from beside her, his lips brushing against her bare shoulder. "morning" she chuckled back, hiding her scarlet cheeks from the boy who had began running a delicate finger along the length of her arm, her body erupting into tingles.

"so last night.." she began to speak, biting her lips in anticipation of the hope of him finishing her sentence. this was a trick of hers she usually used to get an idea of what the other was thinking.

"last night was everything i dreamed of and more" he replied, his eyes sparkling brightly and his lips turned up into a huge grin.

this was not the answer she expected, or was hoping for. normally that sentence was followed by something along the lines of 'was good but i have to get going'.

she mentally scolded herself for being so stupid. of course she went and complicated the only meaningful relationship she had in america.

"what's on your mind?" ollie questioned after the two had fallen into an uncomfortable silence. "nothing" she lied, flashing him a small smile. "look this doesn't have to ruin anything between us" he sighed, catching on to her thoughts as she nervously fiddled with the duvet, avoiding eye contact with the boy and instead turning to her phone to distract herself.

"i just keep making stupid decisions recently" she mumbled, trying not to think back to her argument with david, and all the heart break it had caused her. "so this was just a stupid decision" he snapped back, catching violet off guard as she quickly began to shake her head. "i really enjoyed last night, but my friendship with you is really important to me and i don't want to loose it" she cried, placing a reassuring hand over his clenched fists. "nothing has to change" he repeated, hints of sadness laced between his words that she tried to ignore.

she loved ollie but couldn't see herself being with him.

but then again, she couldn't see herself being with anyone. she had never really been in a real relationship before. sure she had plenty of flings, and short lived romances, but had never thought she had found 'the one'.

she hadn't even ever told anyone she had loved them before.

"look violet, i think its pretty obvious at this point that i have a serious crush on you. last night was amazing and of course when you kissed me back i thought that it meant you felt the same way. but from your reaction this morning i can tell you don't feel the same. let's just move on?" he replied, smoothly sliding on his clothes under the covers before getting up and walking away from the stumped girl.

she followed suit, not so gracefully slipping into her abandoned underwear under the protection of the duvet and then quickly hopping into yesterdays outfit, jogging to catch up with him.

"you're annoyed at me aren't you?" she whined, watching as he rolled his eyes after catching sight of her trailing behind him. "no" he snapped, running a hand through his tangled hair, clearly in frustration. "yes you are" she groaned back to him.

"fine, i'm annoyed at you. i can't tell whether you do this on purpose or you're just really fucking ignorant violet. i mean seriously, you sleep with me, making me think i finally have a chance with you then you tell me it was a mistake?" he yelled back in despair.

this was something she had heard many times before, boys always thought she was playing games. it was frustrating for her, she didn't do it on purpose, she could just never comprehend why anyone would ever fall for her, so she just assumed that nobody did.

"look i think it would be best if you left" he sighed, handing her her bag and jacket before guiding her to the front door.

"i'm sorry" she mumbled through the closed door.

she really was alone now.
