once her instagram was posted she immediately turned her phone back off, not wanting to see what everyones reaction was.
she knew what she was doing was childish, but she truly couldn't handle it. if she lost david, she subsequently lost every single one of her la friends. especially when they found out the truth of what happened.
she didn't even know if david had any plans to tell anyone. even if he never told a soul violet would never be able to act herself around them anymore, the memory of what happened in her hotel room would haunt her.
it wasn't even the kiss, it was the confession. she knew that if she wasn't so damn oblivious all the time then maybe she could have avoided this whole situation.
but it was too late for that now.
"violet, your friends are here!" her mother shouted up the stairs, tearing her from her daydream and into confusion.
she rolled out of her bed and jogged down the stairs, her eyes going wide at the sight of her three best friends standing at her front door, arms open wide for a hug.
"what are you guys doing here?" she questioned, almost leaping into their arms as they all tightened their grip around one another. "we saw that you were in england and drove straight here hoping that it's where you would be!" louise explained, wiping a happy tear that had fell from her eye. it had only been just over a month but she had missed her best friend like crazy.
violet was conflicted, of course she loved the trio but at the same time all she wanted to do was hide under her covers and cry.
the girls were almost as shocked as violet was, their beautiful friend had come to the door in nothing but an oversized hoodie, the sleeves covered in mascara that had been wiped from her bloodshot eyes, leaving trails of black down her pale cheeks. her wonderfully curly hair was frizzy and matted and her sweet melodic voice dry and croaky.
they had never seen their friend like this before, she was always the one who would be comforting them. even when she was upset she never let it show, they hadn't even see her cry before.
"i think we have some catching up to do" lucy said, taking violets shaking hand in her own and dragging her up to her room, the other two quickly following.
"spill the tea" molly joked, violet flashing a small smile back to her. "me and david kissed" she finally mumbled, her eyes glistening with tears that threatened to spill over at any second. "is that it?" lucy asked bluntly, not too sure why such a simple thing had broken her friend. "yeah, thats not a big deal, people kiss all the time" molly added, glaring at lucy for replying in such a harsh tone.
"he has a girlfriend. he took me to vegas and kissed me. it got pretty heated between us, i stopped it and then he yelled at me and walked out" she continued, cringing at every single word she said, the repressed memory of the night flooding back to her as the scene replayed in her mind over and over again.
"what a wanker, he's the one with the girlfriend! you should have been the one to yell" molly replied, the other two nodding their head in agreement. "i told him we should forget it ever happened and he came back in the room and said he was in love with me. he said he loved me more than he had ever loved anyone else before and that we could never see each other again because of it" violet explained, furiously rubbing at her weeping eyes.
"thats awful violet, i'm so sorry" lucy cooed, pulling her into a huge hug, gently rubbing her back in an attempt to comfort the trembling girl.
"then he text me" violet added, pulling her phone out and showing it to the girls;
'don't tell anyone what happened'
'seriously violet, tell me you won't'
'im not going to tell liza, i need to know you won't either'
'it was all a huge mistake'
'i think you should stay away from me and my friends when you get back'
and that is where the girls lost their calm, beginning to curse and yell at how stupid david was, and how he definitely didn't deserve her. she, of course, didn't believe a word they said.
