"Zach, you knew it was Jack who was approaching, right?" Jonah pressed the boy as they ate lunch outside. Even though it technically wasn't allowed, all the teachers had a soft spot for Zach because he was constantly getting bullied about his alexithymia. Added along with the fact that Zach had gotten A's in all of his classes, the teachers usually didn't mind them sitting outside to eat.

"Hey boys!" Christina plopped down on the soft grass beside them. "Whatcha talkin' bout?"

"I saw Jack." Zach bit into his sandwich, shrugging.

"Oh. Apparently, his mom is the new director of the school." Christina said, the three of them enjoying the cool autumn breeze.

"Okay," Zach said. "Jonah met his boyfriend today."

"Zach, he is not -"

"AHHHH!! JONAH! YOU GUYS ARE GONNA GET MARRIED!" Christina shouted.

"Why aren't you like this with Zach?" Jonah groaned, burying his face in his hands.

"Because he probably wouldn't let me look at his eyes if I did." She smiled as she saw Zach momentarily stop eating, then turn around to glare at her.

"I've told you, there's nothing 'amazing' or 'beautiful' about my eyes. They are not a 'wonder of the universe' either." He huffed, feeling angry on a microscopic scale.

"Zach, what are you feeling? God, I sound like a shrink. But yeah, what are you feeling?" Christina asked.

"Angry on a microscopic scale."

"Oh, you're probab-"

"Hey, psycho!" The three of them turned around to face Austin, the school's bully and jock with a negative IQ. Zach just stared straight ahead, shooting him a blank stare.

"Psycho, I'm talking to you. What? Need me to punch you to wake you up?" Austin asked, and without waiting for an answer, swung a fist in the Zach's direction. HIs fist met air and he staggered forward a few steps, then looked to his right to see Zach yawning.

"How many times do we have to do this before you get it?" He asked. In a flash, he was standing at Austin's back and twisting his arm. The four friends Austin had bought with him stepped forward and he shot them his death stare, making them back off.

"Let. Me. Go." Austin threatened, only to feel his arm twist harder.

"Okay." Zach shrugged. The minute he let go, Austin swung his fist and it connected with Zach's stomach, who fell backwards onto the grass.

"AUSTIN PORTER! IN MY OFFICE, NOW!" Mr. Gray yelled at the top of his lungs. After watching the five boys disappear inside the building, he turned to Zach and sighed.

"You okay there, Zach?" He asked, rubbing his hand across his face.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks for asking, Mr. Gray."

"Zach, if anyone's bothering you, just tell me, alright?" Zach nodded, then watched the principal's retreating back.

"The principal always checks on us at 12:45. I remember from last year." He said simply, and stood up.

"If you guys don't hurry up, I won't take off my contacts." Zach smiled at the alarmed looks his friends gave him and started running to the music room, immediately remembering that the music teacher was in the teacher lounge and wouldn't be back until the end of lunch.

Salvation. He thought as he opened the door to the abandoned room. There were so many instruments, but the only one he had an eye for was the piano. He sat on the stool, taking off his contacts and putting them in their container. Christina and Jonah arrived just in time to see his eyes change yellow, and they both smiled at each other, and silently crept into the room as Zach hit the first note. Then the second, and an entire melody started coming from his fingers. He closed his eyes and played, letting the music take him.(song above, and he plays all parts)

Jack, Daniel, and Corbyn were trying to find the music classroom so they wouldn't be late when they heard distant notes coming from somewhere.

"Wow, whoever that person is, they're-they're really good." Daniel breathed out.

"Yeah, and they're also in the music room. C'mon, let's just try and get closer to the sound." Corbyn said, setting off in the direction where the music seemed to be coming from.

"Hey, wait up!" Daniel called out, Jack on his heels.

Zach continued to play, his fingers pressing almost delicately on the keys, easing out a softer, slower melody.

Christina was smiling so hard her cheeks hurt, listening to Zach's playing drown out everything she'd been thinking about.

Jonah was also smiling, his head resting on the back of the chair he was sitting on and he stared up at the ceiling, wishing that people wouldn't bully Zach as much, because he was amazing at just about everything he did. And yet people still tormented the boy every day just because he couldn't feel emotions. Jonah hated seeing the boy willingly get beat up even though he could have anyone writhing in pain on the ground in a matter of seconds.
