"So, Jack's girlfriend comes today." Was the first thing Corbyn said when they met up that morning.

"I know," Zach yawned, rubbing his eyes. "You and Daniel told me last week."

Corbyn and Jonah exchanged a glance at the younger's nonchalant behavior, and shrugged as they started walking towards school.

"What's she like?" Jonah asked, Zach's ears perking up at the question.

"Pretty, rude, sassy, and she was cheerleading captain in our last school." The very thought of Gabbie made Corbyn want to throw up.

"So then why's Jack dating her?"

"She said she'd out us being bi to the whole school if Jack broke up with her, and our school was pretty homophobic. The thing is, Jack started to change when he was around her. Started to act more like her, and he'd call us cowards for not beating up 'nerds' and the gay people that had already come out. It was really bad, so we convinced Jack's mom to leave her cheating husband, and now Jack is the Jack from the pre-Gabbie era. But now that Gabbie's coming back......I don't know." Corbyn finished with a sigh, staring dejectedly at the ground as he walked. Zach stared at the ground too, thinking Corbyn was looking for something.

"Have you noticed that the sidewalk's sparkly?" He said while staring at the sidewalk, making the other two crack up.

"What?" He asked, looking up to see the other two exchange a knowing glance.

"You're cute. Jack should be choosing you over Gabbie." Corbyn saw Zach's cheeks light up with a faint blush, and his smile grew wider.

"Baby!" A high-pitched shriek came from the street across from them, a brunette girl raced across the courtyard to her 'baby'.

Ah.

So that was Gabbie Gonzalez.

Zach felt something flare up inside of him, something he hadn't felt before, but kept his face stoic as they neared the school. Without him knowing, Jonah stole a glance at the him and saw his fists balled up. He frowned, wondering what the boy could be feeling.

"She sounds like a bitch," Zach mused out loud, earning a nod from Corbyn.

"She is. Daniel's and my plan was to get Jack to be popular so he could ditch Gabbie in peace. He has gotten popular, and I think he would've dumped her in a week or two, but now I don't know if he can." Just like that, Jonah could feel all the steps that Zach and Jack had taken crumble away into nothing. As they crossed the courtyard, the feeling Zach had felt earlier was getting stronger, and he didn't like it.

"Jonah," He whispered, and tugged on the older boy's sleeve.

"Yeah?"

"There's a new emotion and I don't like it." At those words, he visibly stiffened.

"Let's find Christina and -"

"Sorry, but are you guys gay or something?" A high-pitched, sassy voice interrupted their whispering.

"Is it wrong to be homosexual?" Zach turned around to face the girl, her nose wrinkled in disgust.

"It's disgusting."

"How so? Please tell, I would like to know what someone with low intellect has to say about homosexuality." Corbyn tried to suppress a wide smile while Daniel disguised his laughter as a loud cough.

"Oh my God, are you kidding? The way they fuck is disgusting, and it's a sin to be homosexual. What's it to you, anyway?"

Zach rolled his eyes, his face passive as he stepped forward, Gabbie involuntarily taking a step back as he said, "How would you know how they fuck? And if I'm not wrong, cursing is also a sin, isn't it? And doesn't the Bible say that all Christians are supposed to love everyone equally?" Gabbie opened and closed her mouth like a gaping fish while Daniel and Corbyn both laughed at her shocked expression.

"Looks like someone needs to pay more attention during Bible study," Zach said, tilting his head and smirking slightly. "But then again, you're probably off fucking someone in the house of God. I wonder if everyone in the pews can hear you. Oh, maybe God can hear you when you're going like 'oh God~ harder, oh my God, harder!'? In that case, it's also blasphemy isn't it? Oh, and maybe lust? And you have a boyfriend so you're also lying to him, because cheating is a form of lying. Does your confession last for an hour? Has the priest ever run out of the booth halfway through and refused to hear any more? So many questions, but I guess that's something only you have to deal with."

"C'mon. Class starts in 10 minutes, and you guys shouldn't be late. It's only your first month here." With that, Zach turned on his heel and started walking into the school, the other three boys trailing behind and exchanging smirks.

"The least you could've done was hit him," Gabbie said, her eyes flashing with anger. The boy internally rolled his eyes as he cringed at his 'girlfriend'. Zach would be an amazing boyfriend, a voice in his head chimed, and he couldn't help but agree.

"Zach, that was amazing!" Corbyn clapped the younger boy on the back while the other two boys nodded. The corner of Zach's mouth curled upwards, a wry smile taking over his features. And even though there was no way to guess the color of his eyes behind his contact lenses, Jonah was pretty sure they were yellow.

"Woah, what's got you in a good mood?" Christina asked, glad to see the boy somewhat smiling. After Daniel told her about what happened, she laughed, feeling like a proud mom.

"You guys haven't seen badass until you've seen Christina." Jonah grinned at her, the girl waving him off and laughing.

"Nah, shut up. Plus, it sounds like she had to get put in her place." Zach's grin grew a bit wider as he nodded his head.

"Trust me, she did." Zach sighed. "I have no idea how I'm supposed to work with Jack when his girlfriend will be all over him. She's probably going to be in the same music class as me." He sighed again. "Shoot me before I die from jumping off her ego."

"Zach!"

"What do you want?" The younger boy said in a cold voice, not bothering to turn around.

"I don't wanna be with her...."

"Well, it seems like you do." He said as he kept walking, subtly lengthening his strides.

"Zach," Jack turned him around and saw the younger boy's impassive expression, the same look that always seemed to be on his face. But there was something different about the way he held himself, or maybe it was the look in his eyes that made them seem deeper.

"Did something happen?" Zach looked up at the other's eyes that seemed to hold some kind of emotion, and for some reason he couldn't lie. So Zach stood there and said nothing.

"Nothing. Nothing happened," He finally muttered, lifting his head.

"You're lying."

"What makes you think I trust you? The fact that you have punched people for being 'fags' speaks volumes. Maybe it's the fact that you can be two-faced that just seems off. So I will ask again: why should I trust you?" At that statement, Jack's face seemed to flash something before it was quickly covered up again.

"Babe, why are you even talking to him? He's such a freak!" Gabbie laughed, tossing her hair back. He looked at Zach, whose mouth was lifted in a small smile that seemed to say I told you so. Without a word, the younger boy walked away and Jack sighed, reluctantly going to his girlfriend.

"We're partners for a project in music," He said as Gabbie wrinkled her nose.

"Ooh, that's pretty bad. We can ask the teacher to switch partners," Jack was only half listening. He was thinking about Zach's words that kept echoing inside his head, guilt worming its way through his brain. He wouldn't be like that, not this time around.

Right?
