Hey, so I absolutely hate reading author notes, so therefore I will try to keep mine to a minimum.

All I'm going to say is, if you haven't read the very first "chapter" of this book, I'll let you know now...

~This is my third book on Wattpad

~I'm not used to writing books like this, sooo

~I make a lot of music/band references

Okay? Cool.

I hope you enjoy!!!!

"And THE EARTH OPENED HER MOUTH, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive INTO THE PIT, and the EARTH CLOSED UPON THEM:"

Numbers 16:32-33

Chapter 1:

I like it here. It's warm and welcoming. Everything is so friendly and nice.

Just kidding.

I live in Centralia, Pennsylvania.

I was walking along the shoulder of the road on Center Street. My black hoodie was up, over my head, and my black jeans were heavy with water. It was pouring out side and I had to walk all the way across town to Hell City.

That's where I lived, along with 315 other people just like me. A devil worshipper. One hundred and something years ago, the devil worshippers of Centralia were forced to go live on their own in a small, abandoned part of the city. The Christians said they were a disgrace to the city and the world, so they sent them to live alone. To other's, it looks run down, old, and maybe even scary, but they liked it, and they knew their master had guided them there.

They settled in, and they kept away from the Christians of Centralia. Why would they want to talk to them anyways? But after a while, the Christians thought they could "mess" with them. So late one night, many Christian's hopped the fence and trespassed on our land. They had to climb the rugged roads, and survive the random forest fires, unfortunately, they finally made it here. Since the people here rarely sleep, the intruders had to be super careful. The very first thing they did was tag one of our rusty bridges with a Christian Cross. They did some other stuff, but it's disappeared after time. But the one thing that they did is something I have to walk past every, freaking day.

Our worship building. They burned it when they were here, but one person was inside, worshipping, and the building never burned down. People say Luicifer protected it. It just has a few bad burn spots now. No one knows for sure, but legend says Luicifer found the trespassers and guided them off the edge of the road. Literally. The entrance to hell is in a road in Hell City. There is this massive gap in the middle of the road, and we say it leads to hell. But no one actually knows what happened to the trespassers.

It still bothers the hell out of me.

But since Luicifer loves us so much, he burns down one of their church's every year. It's become an annual celebration for us.

So that's what legend says. What I say is that some dumbass' tried messing with the Ordo Flammeus Serpens. What did they except to happen?

*end of legend*

I turned down the street and entered the rusty red gates of Hell City. I continued walking the road alone, soaking wet and a dark fog surrounding me. I walked into the forest and stopped by a lopsided toll booth. I pulled a card out of my book bag and scanned the bar code and the giant gates opened.

I walked deeper into the heart of the forest, following the humming sound. It got more intense as I entered the village. A giant bonfire was lit up in the center of the village. Almost the entire town was gathered around the fire, shoulder to shoulder, humming and swaying together.

I quietly snuck into the third house and went up to my room. Inside my bedroom, the flame from the fire was lighting up my room and the humming wasn't peaceful or relaxing. It was absolutely terrifying, but it's what I'm raised to be.

And there's nothing I can do about it.

Okay, so how was the first chapter? I worked really hard on it, and I hope you like it and maybe you could even look into it? The Ordo Flammeus Serpens is a real thing, and Centralia, Pennsylvania is a real place with a real gap in the middle of the road.

If you don't look into it, that's cool too. Either way, I hope you enjoy the book.
