A/N: This chapter is A LOT better than the last one. If you skipped the last chapter because you do not like gore, you can re continue starting here. Basically what happened in the recent chapter, was a devil worship ritual. It was very descriptive and graphic in my opinion. Feel free to go back and read it, if not, the rest of the novel will still make perfect sense. (:

Chapter 10:

The bright 6am sun was sneaking in the crack I had left open in my window last night. I awoke to the smell of burning wood and burning in general. I swung my feet off the side of my bed and got out and walked over to beside my window. I stared down at the practically empty village sidewalks. I did see one familiar face..Zach. I was standing in the middle of my window, in plain view and he happened to see me. I giggled and smiled and waved at him. He gave me a half grin and motioned for me to come down. I gave him a thumbs up then put up 5 fingers, signaling that I'd be there in five.

I ran up the my wardrobe and put on black skinny jeans that had a line of spinkes up the side of the leg. I put on a cattle decapitation shirt and slid on my converse, got ready, and snuck out. I grabbed my bookbag and compass on my way out, and I also wrote mother a letter explaining I'm out and won't be home 'till later. I put the note on the table then silently left the house and locked the door behind myself. I quickly ran up to Zach.

"Hey."

"Sup Satan?"

"Don't use that term."

"Sup princess?"

"Don't use that term either. "

"Sup person?"

I rolled my eyes. "Not much, what about you?"

"Uh," he shrugged as we started walking towards the forest. "Same old same old. I have to be back in my city at nine o'clock."

"Oh okay, are we gonna walk back there then now?"

"Yeah is that okay?"

"Yeah of course."

"Okay then yeah," We entered the thicker part of the forest, nearing the road. "Just try not to get hit by a car this time."

I giggled. "I'll try not to."

"So how was your little ceremony last night?"

"To be honest," I started, "I hated it."

"I knew you would."

"Yeah, you know me all too well."

"Is that a bad thing?"

"Uh," I laughed, "I'm pretty sure it's fine. But I can't surpass the memories from last night."

"Yeah, it doesn't seem fair. I guess you realized that your not the person you wanted to be."

I never really thought about it before, but now that I did, he was right. This isn't who I wanted to be. He continued with what he was saying.

"When we first met, and we started talking. You were drunk, and you told me what you wanted to be. You said you wanted to be human and feel alive, not stuck inside of the person everybody else wants you to be."

I didn't remember this at all. "I'm sure I was just talking non sense."

"For a drunk person, you had some good philosophy."

"Oh yeah for sure, 'go completely against my own village'."

"Yep."

I looked down at the ground at my feet and the black road. "Why do you always do that?"

"Hm? What?" I said.

"You are always looking at the ground. Like all the time."

I shrugged. "Keep your hopes up high and your head down low?"

"Is that what you think?"

"I don't know really."

"Well."

"I don't know anything anymore." I hesitated. "Like I know stuff, I just can't figure out what I want to. Like my seventeenth birthday is in less than a month now, and I still don't know how to get out of it."

"Umm." He paused. "I've been thinking about you." I was taken back. "Like not like that, but I was thinking about how to get you out of this."

"Oh."

"If you wait till I get home, I swear I can get you out of it, we can sleep at my place or I can get you a hotel room and we can forget about it in the morning."

"How the fuck is that supposed to work?"

"I know you can't go home until everything dies down, then we can find you a temporary home."

"What the hell? That isn't going to work. This is a fucking government of Satan worshippers you're talking about. I can't just get up and leave the scene and live at a hotel until it dies down. People will be suspicious, people will be after me. I know you're just trying to help, but you're giving me false hope." I shut my eyes and clenched my fists. "I can't make it through anything." I said to him.

"Is this really happening?"

"Unfortunately." I half smiled at him, trying to lighten the mood but we both know it was fake so I quickly got rid of it. "I'm sorry."

"Don't be," he said and smirked and pointed to my heart, "you've got broken things where you're heart should be, that's all. I promise someone will fix that for you and you'll be gold."

"Thanks dude."

"No problem." He smiled and playfully put an arm around my shoulder. "Your like a little sis to me, I need to protect ya."

I laughed and buried my face in his chest.

"Let me see your smile," I shook my head, "let me see it," I still never smiled, "smile."

I looked at him and smiled, it felt good. He smiled to. "Why are we smiling?"

"Because we look like total rebels right now. You're OFS and I'm Christian. We're supposed to hate each other. I just like feeling like a badass."

"Doesn't everyone?"

"Shuddup. Let me have my moment."

I raised my arms in surrender. "Have your moment." I smiled and we entered the Christian city.

A/N: Okay! So that chapter was much more light hearted than the last. I felt it was nessisary. (;
