Chapter 10: Reasons

As Blue Pearl brain stutters for a moment and her hand shakes more than she could expect, every part of her goes on pause while her thoughts catch up.

Quite unbelievable, shocking really.

Never before had she noticed how Nora could do such thing; Her mind was sent reeling, unable to comprehend or process the scene in front of her eyes. Blue Pearl tried to look away, she couldn't believe it. But it was still there. It was.

"I'm sorry, a sacrifice must be made" - Nora said without a blink.

Time, it passes slowly, as she watched the raven-haired girl getting better while herself, her body constantly turned to dust and drifted away.

"Why..." - Blue Pearl asked

She stared into those bright crimson eyes burning and fell silent. "Answer me!" she roared. Darted her eyes to the object next to her, Amethyst...recalling what happens.

"I don't agree with this. How could you do such things?! He's a kid!" - said Amethyst

"Hate to say, but I don't either. I mean, taking out his gem? He's your brother for god sake Nora" - Blue Pearl added

"And?" - Nora shrugged

"And?? That would kill him for sure!"

"You and your psychotic decision, Nora. Rose wouldn't want any of this. Think about those around you, at least your own family. We follow you just because of Rose said to help her kid, not to sacrifice our life for this nonsense." - Amethyst scratched her head, walking around with fast pace, as she studied something on Nora's face, slightly sadness show on the girl's eyes.

Amethyst then came closer to her, place one hand on Nora's shoulder, "It'll be okay, it will. I don't know what is it that going on. But... If you drop them all. We still be by your side and help you with everything."

"Hm, you care that much?" - she asked

"Yes, we do and Rose too. Your mother...she loves you too as much as she loves Steven—"

"Then you're right. You really don't know anything..."

"What?—"

Suddenly the girl pulled out an onyx sword from the middle air like it could hearing her called. Amethyst eyes widen, she tried to jump back to avoid the swing but Nora was faster. The sword, impaled pass her body, Amethyst collapsed to the ground, her body began to crack, broken into dust then fade away in the wind. Only her gem remains.

"Amethyst!!" - Blue Pearl yelled. Shocking at the vision before her eyes. "Did you just...kill her? The hell was that for?!"

"Have you ever heard of the tale? About the four high priests? As the first choir of heaven began to sing, their first appearance causing...troubles for the demon cause of their unusual ability."

"Do you mean...?"

"Take the gem to my brother cell. If one me can't solve this puzzle, maybe four can do it"

Blue Pearl picked up the purple gem, looking at her reflection in it. 'Why...Why do you have to do this? It didn't have to be this way'. She thought. Turning back to Nora, as she about to say something really really unexpected.

"No"

"Excuse me?"

"No, I won't do it. Amethyst is right and you should drop this. We get what we want, isn't it the time to set things down? More killing isn't gonna do any good"

Though she was continued, Blue Pearl mind went blank and her eyes wide as she stared at Nora in horror. She couldn't will her lips to move. As if it stuck underwater, everything was slow and warbled as Nora pointed the onyx sword in her face. "I have poured my heart out to grant you all what you want, now you telling me that we should drop half way?

Desperately searched her courage to stay, Blue Pearl began to tremble, "You've changed"

"No, this is who I am, this is who I will always be. Only you couldn't see that, and...it was such a shame"

Nora removed the sword, after one hand pulled up the left sleeve, reviewing her gems the first time in front of her. "I'm not ordinary, while you just have one", she holds up her arm, "I got all four".

Four diamonds, that's what she implied, a well-made weapon by the formers Diamond General. And that is what I am, she thought as looking at Blue Pearl.

"Just why"

"The Hourglass, it needs the power to run. Since Peridot took the main source to cover up the core, I have to use mine to keep it from collapse, and it draining me, day by day. In order to maintain this...to be alive, I have to take more from another."

"You going to kill me too, don't you?" - Blue Pearl chuckled

"Eventually you will all fail just like Lapis does and it has to be me to fix everything" - she shook her head, "Do you have anything more to say? " Nora demanded.... waiting.

Blue Pearl closed her eyes and stay silent.

"Then so be it" - Nora said, as the light run from her arm came toward to Blue Pearl.

She searched her mind for something reasonable, but to her surprise, her heart answered for one. I was so blind, if I knew, I wouldn't have let you fall down this way, my general, my Diamond, I'm so sorry. For what I did...but, I'm coming to you now, I hope you still wait for me. Say, would you let me draw your beautiful face again? Cause it is really dazzling.

"Maybe it's for the best" - A smile on her face, it was the last thing Blue Pearl did as she fell into the light, and then there was none.
